Once again, local programming has been preempted for the Pursuit du Jour. It isn't a disaster; one merely pops a video in the handy-dandy VCR and is entertained.

I have a question though. Given that these events cover lots of territory, and that the volume of traffic alone prevents high speed, why are television newspeople fascinated with them, and subject us to play-by-play commentary by some helicopter quarterback for hours on end?

Not just one station, either!

I'm just pondering this, and if anyone has a clue, please let me know.

TV?? They still make them things??

That would be Reason #78 of the "Why I don't Turn on the TV" (except for Steeler and Penguin games and the occasional late night cable movie) list.

Is something happening? I should probably flip over to cnn.com and find out, huh?

Do ya think maybe they're hoping that the driver being chased is some famous ex-jock again? Compared to "The Thin Man" on TCM, this can't quite measure up. BTW, "Strangers on a Train" is on Sunday so for a real suspense ride I will catch the carousel scene for the umpteenth time.

I can see a lot of similarities between Penguin and Steeler games on TV. 6 guys working hard :)

Looks like Cowher waited too long to bench Kordell. You're two games behind the Bengals. Drew Brees will probably turn into another Scott Campbell anyhow.

I love "The Thin Man", but why don't the stations ever show any of the others in the series? One can only watch it so many times.

Yooz in luck

On Turner Classic Movies

10/17 5:00 pm Song of The Thin Man
11/13 6:00 pm After The Thin Man
11/22 11:30 am Song of TTM
and on 12/26 (a post Xmas or Boxing day present) a marathon
12:00 pm After TTM
2:00 pm Shadow of TTM
4:00 TTM Goes Home

I'll have a nice fire going on the 26th to watch these. Leftover ham sandwiches and Myrna Loy, woohoo! :)

I thought I was the only Thin Man fan here! Wow...
I have each and every movie, and watch them all the time.
I sound like an addict?
RonG...
Got room on the couch for me? I will bring the martinis.
Estralita!!!!!!

Scoot over on that couch!! What kind of movie munchies can I bring? I love classic movies & the Thin Man series is one of my favorites. William Powell & Myrna Loy rocked! Love AMC & TCM & I think that colorization is one of the great evils of the 20th century. I got cable years ago, mainly so I could get AMC & when they went to 24 hour programming, I stayed up for 2 days straight. I also have a slight addiction problem-lol.

OH!!!! I am on my way over... promise to cuddle?

Thank you for the comment on the title. Mystical Lady was the other choice, thanks to you. But Hecate and Shyguy chose this one. But, I shall always be your Mystical Lady, right?

Anyone ever see Double Wedding? With William Powell and Myrna Loy... wow. It is also a favorite.

Me, Too!

The original was best though; it really caught, almost exactly, the tone of Dashiell Hammet's book.

I'm a major fan. I love The Maltese Falcon, too!

Cuddle?.... of course mystical one...

The Thin Man...a warm fire..and you...

Ah, heaven on earth..:D

Thank you, RonG. I really appreciate that. I've already written them down, and will pin them on my bulletin board. Oh, and the 17 is my day off. Yeay!!

Well, I'm spending the 26th at my sister's place (she has cable.

I'm sure I can think of some excuse!

No gnus is good gnus...

Myrna Loy? the Thin Man? Again? I'll bet you'll never see this cuddle Movie, because I suggested something different..."Forbidden Games"...I love romance, but this one should pull people together in Reality...

When I can drag myself away from this site, a good place to visit and do searches of movies is
http://tcm.turner.com/Coming_Attractions/

This is TCM's site and it has a really neat search function for when you are stuck thinking about a movie or an old star and you can't quite remember the title or who co-starred. For example, there is an Ann Sheridan Femme Fatale film festival on November 8 with the highlight being "Nora Prentiss" at 8:00. If you haven't seen it, check it out.

My couch only seats three people for the 26th. Maybe we'll have to watch movies in the bedroom that day ;)
