My last "home repair" was adding fastenings to the draw slides in the kitchen. Easy enough with the proper Blum screws. However, one woulda thought that the local cabinetmaker would of not cheaped out on screws with a $16k worth of custom cabinets. One screw doesn't hold up a 36" wide drawer full of pottery plates and bowls for long.

Tomorrow I shall be building a TV cabinet and routing a shedload of cables for video and audio.

remember to check the wall for buried cables, water pipes etc not to mention gas pipes which can be problematical if drilled through with something like an 8mm mason master.

I'm gonna trunk them for now. When I get round to redecorating this room I'll sink them in the walls.

remember surface mounted cables can be a hazard. be sure to label them as 'HAZARD - KEEP THE FUCK AWAY' should prevent costly personal injury claims.

health and safety query - has anyone heard anything from Sean since he took a drill to a wall at the weekend? this makes the point about DIY very very valid. BE safe everyone.

No drilling involved, stuck the fuckers on with trunking tape. It will do for a temporary fix.

Just the usual winterizing here, with the possibility of heating fuel hyperinflation. I will buy more insulation and maybe other stuff.

I could turn the house heat down to 40s and live next to the little heater in the garage.

top DIY tip - avoid blocking off all aircirculation to avoid the sad, tragic death from carbon monoxide poisoning. if living in Tampa though feel free to experiment with it.
