Myspace

I do.
I like it a lot for just casual blogging and chit chatting.
:)

so far, I like it to a certain extent. I found 2 people I went to school with and a couple of local people that could make good friends.

the problem I have is that it is slower than anything else on my computer, I havne't figured it out yet, and I get an error messege more often than any site I've ever been on. And often I get it when I'm trying to go to my homepage.

So I like it but I'm finding it frustrating!

Totally square question:

What does one do there? As opposed to, for instance, here.

Love it, especially keeping track of friends:

(for instance, Stella Omega just posted that she has a new story out and then posted some song lyrics)

http://www.myspace.com/recidiva

My daughter also posts, and so does my husband, so I can also keep track of my own family when if and when our schedules go berserk.

Have one. Haven't really used it.

I use LiveJournal for the diary-type stuff and my blog for promo.

That's a good one, Liar.
I do several things there.
For one thing, I blog there. I don't want to put all of my pendantic ramblings here at Lit cause, well, frankly, they're boring. And almost no one reads the blogs at myspace so I don't have to worry about putting people to sleep.
Another thing is that I have met a few really great people from right here in Milwaukee through myspace. I'm hoping eventually to meet the woman of my dreams somehow, somewhere. But I'm so new to the lesbian community in this town that I have no idea how to do that. So the friends I've made through there have been helpful in that regard.
And finally, I can keep tabs on my friends here who also have myspace pages. Everyone at the magazine I write for has a page and I read their stuff, give support, etc. They read mine and we all keep up that way. My sister is there too and it's fun to read about her life from her perspective.

Does that help clear it up a little?

I have myspace and it rocks! I found a couple school mates from Highschool on there and am talking to one of them on Aim :D

Myspace is a very popular way to promote your music.

It's groaning at the seams a little, because it can't cope with the huge numbers of people who use it. Tom, who's everyone's friend, sold it to Rupert Murdoch's evil Empire a few months back.

I keep track of my son's music career progress on it.

I've written a myspace bot that is useful for networking and promotion. It ranks people in your network in a similar way to the way Google ranks pages.

It's a very good place to learn how not to design a home page.

I've been using it for a month now and hooked up with a couple of local groups for chit-chat and goings (ons?). My problem is the slow down time, crappy loading of ridiculous webpages, multiple phishermen, and the ppl that can't take a hint that you don't wanna date them. It must be sweeps week too, because the local news is running a story about internet predators preying on the scantily clad underage teens and a recent murder of girl who met her myspace friend in person. (shudders). It's getting easier to screen through ppl you would like to talk to and great for networking.

Yeah, I have some of the same problems with myspace. And I've been noticing they've been getting a lot of bad press lately, but I've found it to be really great for me in terms of finding people I used to know and getting to know local people as well.

I hope that it stays free, now that somebody else bought it.

And I wish the media would leave it alone. Why are they singling out myspace anyway? it's no different than anywere else on the internet. geez!

The biggest issue with MySpace has been the demographic that uses it. A large portion of MySpace is used by the '18 and Under' crowd. As a result, it has become a stalker hotbed. Additionally, MySpace has put some questionable functionality in place, that makes for horrible site design, along with fostering some nasty exploits that get passed around the MySpace network.

The site design issues aren't bad in and of themselves.

The risk of stalkers can be dealt with.

The popularity among young users can be addressed.

To some, the 'unpoliced' nature of MySpace is a good thing.

But, all of these together has made for some very nasty potential. I strongly support the right of MySpace to exist, and to do things their own way. I believe that parents are responsible for teaching common sense, as opposed to Anonymous Corporation_01, and I believe that users are allowed to make shitty web sites. But, in response to the combination of the above, I freely exercise my right to avoid going there.

it must be sweeps month or something. I did get a note from "Tom" stating that there will be no cost to myspace users in the future contrary to rumors.

I don't think I've been using my myspace to its fullest potential. I'm sorta involved in an online RPG, but not really. I hope to be able to use it more frequently in the future. I like that I can post long rants or blogs without really caring what anyone thinks. I've even made a few new friends because they did care what I think. So, it's all what you want to make of it. It's your space, um, myspace. :)

I've had a myspace account for about six months or so. I don't use it much, tho I have met a few interesting people there. The slowdown, etc are a huge pain, and I detest having to wait for pages to load. I also managed to get some kind of virus the other day from there (no, I did not download a thing), but luckily I have a virus program that runs all the time and caught it right away.
For blogging purposes, I like LJ alot better. The benefits of myspace are that it's free, it's easier to meet people/network, and it's easier to design your own page.
I just signed up for Yahoo 360, so after I create my page there I guess I'll see how it compares to myspace and LJ.

I've been a member of myspace for about 8 months now. The slow loading sucks and the main problem I have is the spam. I'm not sure if everyone has experienced this. I get emails from women wanting me to join their websites. Those I've learned to ignore, since they usually spam the myspace email.
I have met some friends on there. A couple were able to tell me what happened to Cameron after Rita struck and how the schools and town were demolished. That was very helpful since I grew up there. I've also met others that have become friends who work in the same profession I do and we work close by.
Overall, I don't visit myspace often. My friends can contact me on yahoo messenger. I'm just tired of the spam from the solicitors who want me to join websites.
I mean, is there some sign over my head that says come on in, I'm close to you, pay this fee and you're an idiot?

I love it! It's a good way to meet friends but it is slow as can be or was that just my computer? *lol*

damn myspace! It was when I started myspacing that I abandoned Lit. I didn't do it on purpose. I hadn't even realized id done it!
