Hello all-lately I have been browsing through this section of the forum as well as the new stories.

The amount of negative and downright rude comments/feedback is crazy! The trolls really seem to rule the roost in LW too. Glad I am not planning on posting there. :)

What is funny to me is that people are here on an erotic literature sight that clearly states at the home page among other things:
"Welcome to Literotica, your FREE source for the hottest in erotic fiction and fantasy." "We offer a huge selection of adult fantasies to choose from, and are always on the lookout for new and exciting ideas."

Definitions:

Erotic - 1)of, devoted to, or tending to arouse sexual love or desire <erotic art>
2)strongly marked or affected by sexual desire

Fiction - 1)a : something invented by the imagination or feigned; specifically : an invented story b : fictitious literature (as novels or short stories) c : a work of fiction; especially : novel
2) a : an assumption of a possibility as a fact irrespective of the question of its truth <a legal fiction> b : a useful illusion or pretense
3): the action of feigning or of creating with the imagination

Adult - 1) fully developed and mature : grown-up
2): of, relating to, intended for, or befitting adults <an adult approach to a problem>
3): dealing in or with explicitly sexual material <adult bookstores> <adult movies>

Fantasies - 1)obsolete : hallucination
2): fancy; especially : the free play of creative imagination
3): a creation of the imaginative faculty whether expressed or merely conceived: as a : a fanciful design or invention b : a chimerical or fantastic notion c : fantasia 1 d : imaginative fiction featuring especially strange settings and grotesque characters —called also fantasy fiction
4): caprice
5): the power or process of creating especially unrealistic or improbable mental images in response to psychological need <an object of fantasy>; also : a mental image or a series of mental images (as a daydream) so created <sexual fantasies>

So why is that people come on to a website where mature adults are allowed to indulge in their fantasies, whether they are vanilla or taboo, by writing a story to their liking and then bash people for doing it?

Don't get me wrong please, I appreciate feedback and constructive criticism on grammar, structure, etc.. BUT, I see no reason to write something like this "same shit every day, get a life" or "you are mentally fucked up. please get some help. we don't need any more sick bastards like you in the world."

Wow.

And the ones that get me are those (especially in LW I have noticed, but I am not pointing fingers!) who claim to know the difference between fantasy and real life (some fantasies are acted upon while others are not) yet say things like "I cannot believe you would let your wife do such a thing" or "the character obviously has no moral qualities, somebody who would succumb to such temptation does not truly love their spouse" after reading a fictional story based on a fantasy.

 It is a fiction, fantasy and even if it is a true story, if it bothers you so much DON'T read it. It is not directly affecting you or life unless you let it!

Ok, ok...sorry about that! Please forgive my rant and I am bracing myself for any inflammatory comments I might receive. And yes I do have thick skin, so the negative feedback I have already received does not phase me. I am just expressing my disgust at some people's hypocrisy.

Well said Ella. I've had my fair share of negative feedback of the type you describe. I console myself by choosing to believe that I've done such a good job of character development in the story that the reader forgets they are reading a fantasy. Hence their outrage when they internalize and personalize the story plot. Write on, Ella. Write on. :rose:

:) Maybe some of us should include a disclaimer in our stories that says: "This is my story, the fruit of my own lecherous mind. Please do not internalize and personalize the plot as it has nothing to do with your real life away from the internet. Happy reading! :)"

:D

Jefita,

Welcome to Lit. It is a fun place, but as you have discovered there is a rogue cadre of the morality police that patrols this site and flames anyone or anything that offends their own conception of what erotica can or should be. Avoid the trolls, and you will have a good time here.

Because the Web site declares no responsibility or obligation for how readers choose to either read on the site or respond to the stories here.

(Feel lucky you don't write a lot of GM stories.)

You are putting a lot more effort into this than it warrants.

People come here for many different reasons, but the core reason for everyone is that it makes their day a little nicer. Some people feel warm inside when they read erotic stories and go to sleep with a smile. Some people masturbate. Whatever it takes.

Now, imagine the person with a life so dismal, coming to lit and trashing someone's dirty story is the highlight of their day. Pretty sad, isn't it.

Be thankful you are the person with the imagination and the drive to put the words in the story and not the sad little fuck who only feels big when they try to smack someone else down.

A well directed rant

Well directed and well said. I've wondered, myself, why some people get wound up when the point of the story is exactly what wound them up. I guess people are funny.

I don't write them, true, but I love to read them!

Thanks for reining me in. Didn't mean to be so wound up and bitchy but the sad little fucks really got to me today!

Yes we are!

I have sympathy with your rant. To be criticized for dirty thoughts in a site dedicated to the expression of such is just absurd.

Here's a quote from Dr. Seuss, I hope it helps you feel better :)

"Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind."

Ella, I love the Anais Nin quote from your profile. I feel we live in a culture that tries to define what sexuality should be for everyone and it's very refreshing to see people expressing things that remind me that it's ok to be an individual where sexuality is concerned. I know that's not part of this thread, but I was very impressed by the quote and I couldn't help but mention it. Also potentially a bit off topic, I'm a bit new to these forums and I keep seeing the term "LW." What is that exactly? Is that another similar site?

And yes, it is definitely ironic to have people write judgemental comments on a site that's supposed to be about free speech. Or even more so, a site that's supposed to be a place where people can explore their sexual fantasy's in a safe and secure environment. We ought to support one another. There's plenty of judgement in the real world. I really wish people wouldn't bring it here. Live and let live, I say. Or, ironically enough, love your neighbor as yourself.

LW stands for the Loving Wives category here on Lit. The definition of "loving wives" is so mushy and touchy that there are two camps (at least) of readers sitting on the stories mostly based on their disparate feelings about cockholdery. If you post anything remotely like that in the category (I did a story there about a true loving wife situation, and it survived OK), you are going to get reamed by crazy banchees from one side or the other.

I hope you'll forgive my apparent innocence (I'm really not that innocent, just perhaps new to these forums), but I'm not 100% sure of what cockholdery is. Would you willing to fill me in?

It's a small subgroup of kitchen and cookware fetish. The most common practice is cock and ball torture by a woman wearing oven mitts. Some may use salad tongs.

LW refers to the Loving Wives category. It's a strange place. All the writers are obsessed with adultery and all the readers are obsessed with people who write about adultery.

Cuckoldry (when it's spelled correctly, which I didn't do ) is any aspect of a wife having it off with someone other than her husband.

You see that I don't write it much, as I can't remember how it's spelled.

Lol. Regardless of intention, that put a rather comical image in my head. 50's/60's era housewife wearing nothing but oven mitts and a smile as her husband comes home from work. Actually, when put that way, it's kind of hot. Minus the salad tongs and torture. Ouch!

I see. Interesting. To each their own, I suppose. I've been long fascinated with the swinger lifestyle. I was raised to believe that such a thing was horrific, but there are people out there who swear by it. I'm open minded enough to be curious. I really wonder if it's possible to have a loving, committed, healthy relationship and still have sexual relations with other people in a community. Being a single individual with nothing resembling a committed relationship, it's definitely difficult to form an informed opinion.

There you go, my thoughts exactly but presented in much clearer and concise way. :D

Love it! Thanks!

Thank you...now that I am out and about lit more and more these days I actually found another member who most likely has more seniority here than me with the very same quote.

I really laughed out loud at the term "banchees"! And from what little I have seen your description of the category is pretty damn accurate. :)

Actually, you got cuckoldry correct, Pilot. The one you did mess up was in yesterday's "LW stands for the Loving ..." where you compared some LW readers/commenters to "banchees".

From one of innumerable online dictionaries only a click away:

Definition of CUCKOLDRY
1: the practice of making cuckolds
2: the state of being a cuckold
First Known Use of CUCKOLDRY
1529

Definition of CUCKOLD
: a man whose wife is unfaithful

ban·shee noun \ˈban-(ˌ)shē, ban-ˈ\
Definition of BANSHEE
: a female spirit in Gaelic folklore whose appearance or wailing warns a family that one of them will soon die
See banshee defined for English-language learners »
Examples of BANSHEE
I heard someone wailing like a banshee.
Origin of BANSHEE
Irish bean sídhe & Scottish Gaelic bean sìth, literally, woman of fairyland
First Known Use: 1771

No, look again. I mispelled it the first time. Freudian slip, I think.

Oh, in the earlier post. On the second look, I saw it. The first time I read that post, I saw what I expected to see rather than what you actually wrote. Sigh. Readers ain't perfect either. I'm living proof.

Good Rant

You have a point. But why someone would come here and rant when they know what the site is about is a demonstration of a deeply disturbed psyche on their part. My advice is not to try to rationalise irrational behaviour.

I have had a couple of negative feedbacks, but these tend to be of the 'don't give up the day job' type. That's fine, I'm not going to! Overwhelmingly the comments left are positive, which makes me feel good and the votes aren't too bad, so I'm doing something right!

Definitions:

My stories are true, not fiction. So, strictly speaking, they shouldn't be here by your definition. However, no-one has objected so far.

A lot of my stories about Louisa involve sex with other men and have been 'Loving Wives' in my interpretation. I have had comments like 'I wish my wife was like that.' But I can see that there are two possile interpretations. For me LW was always interpreted as loving someone else's wife. And it's not cuckolding, strictly speaking, because she has my consent (and occasionally encouragement). The only condition we have is openness and honesty. This has always been the correct basis for any loving relationship.

Finally, Louisa was told off for mis-categorising the story about when she first extended her loving relationship to my brother as 'incest'. OK, this may be true, but why bother?

Thanks for your advice and I can see how I maybe came off its whiny or irrational...live and let live, I know. Although thinking of myself as deeply disturbed is a new one for me.

Like you I have mostly received positive comments and very positive feedback so I was mostly referring to what I had seen on other stories.

Maybe the fact that I was PMS'ing made me into a bitchy, white knight for the topic.

!

Are you kidding? Forums like this are the troll homeworld. We are fortunate that they don't breed.

Not you Ella. It's the trolls who are deeply disturbed. And very unlikely to have the opportunity to breed! ;-)
