hi everyone! and a big hi to trixareforkids!

it was suggested to me recently that I might post links to here to verses that I have recently started writing. to call it writing is not quite right, it is more like graffiti that I scribble on someone else's thread, almost always on personals.

anyway, here goes. have a read, and if you feel like sharing what goes in your mind as you read any of them, I would love to hear, here, on the original thread, or in private.

the list is in chronological order. there is usually some connection to the thread they are scribbled on.

Hi Ramya!

I can't wait to go through them all later, if I find some inspiration I'll post the resulting piece(s) here. Our styles are quite different so the contrast could be fun. :D

Ramya, you start your post with:

So you write what is expected, I read what is expected, and it's like you got your assignment, then your teacher gave you C+, and you're happy, you fulfilled your obligation. Except that this is not poetry.

Loosen up. You got your assignment but you don't have to be a slave of your assignment. You may use it as a background, as a pretext, as something that provides you roughly with a topic,.... When you're a poet then you always have to write poetry, not assignments. You have to have a real reason to write a poem, not just a pretext.

Good luck. best regards,

thanks for reading! and taking the time to say something about it!

I'll be the first one to say nothing I have written here can quite be considered poetry. I read a post, and if the urge strikes me, I write whatever verse I can in 3 minutes or less. Sometimes I cheat and take 4. :) so a c+ is really too kind.

poetry is beyond me, I write short verses like this merely to amuse myself. if that does not meet this forum's requirements, my sincere apologies.

No way! Don't apologize for doing something you enjoy. Poetry DOES NOT have to be serious or studiously studied. If you're enjoying what you do and are happy with the verses you pen off the top of your head, please, keep them coming.

I enjoy your light verses!

If you are happy with your quick works, don't let the advice of others inhibit you or keep you from posting here. Not every poet wants to be a "student" of poetry, some just do it for fun. Writing and sharing here is not limited to the students of poetry. We tend to inspire one another, so the more the merrier!

No, don't give up!

Ramya, don't worry about the forum either. Nine out of ten I'd write the same about the poems on PF&D, and most of the time even much worse (so, most of the time I say nothing :)).

Best,
