Today I had a job interview at noon. I'm pretty excited about the position because my friend works there also, which could mean an occasional ride. Anyway, to get to my destination, I leave my house at 10 AM, so I can catch the bus downtown and then transfer to another bus. It's raining, pretty chilly out, and the wind is kind of blustery. I'm wearing a skirt, sweater and some sensible heels. The wind is whipping the skirt around my legs as I head to the bus stop. Wet leaves are stuck to my shoes.

I manage to get to the bus stop w/out getting soaked. Catch the bus downtown, and prepare to make my transfer. I know I need bus #8. I called this morning and got directions. So I cross the street to the bus #8 stop. It's 10:45 and bus #8 comes at 11:08. Luckily there is a shelter to keep out of the rain. Leaving at 11:08 should get me to my interview by 11:35. giving me time to freshen up a little before announcing myself. Finally #8 shows and I board. I hand the driver my transfer and take a seat. I can relax for a few minutes before searching out my stop. I glance thru the schedules, because I'm still going to have to get myself home. Glancing at my watch, it's 11:25, should almost be there. I look out the window, and suddenly feel sick to my stomach. I am ready to just scream. Ya see bus 8 goes north and south. What I neglected to pay attention to, is that I needed to go south, and I was going north. It's now 11:30.

I pull the stop wire thingy, and begin to exit the bus. Checking my shedule, I see the next southbound bus is at 12:07. Seven minutes after my interview is to start. I walk to a small bar and find a payphone. Call my interviewer and explain what happened. She laughs. She laughed really loud. Then she rescheduled the interview for tomorrow.

So I catch the southbound bus back to downtown. Find the bus that brings me home. I make it home. A little wet and worn out. It was 1:30 when I got home. Over 3 hours for absolutely nothing. *Sigh*

And I get to do it all over again tomorrow. *Sigh*

Sorry...I needed to vent.

*hugs* Bubble I think we have all had days like you have had today

You did fine--it was not for absolutely nothing at all. You got to learn that you are being interviewed by someone who is still willing to give you a chance when the chips are down. That is worth more than can be described.

Keep your chin up.

(Besides, think about all the goodies you will be getting in the mail when Laurel sends the compilation package! It will be like an early Christmas celebration!!!!)
