I see that people have started some political threads on 2007, so I want to give you a personal one. 2007 was a horrible year for me personally, so forgive me if I don't get involved in the partisan political banter on the year. Here's some of my highlights in no particular order.
Truck basically blew up, and I had to go buy another when we weren't in position to take on another payment.
3 weeks after that, found out that our septic system had to replaced. Add another $6,000 to the aforementioned truck payment.
2 weeks after that, air conditioner went out. Add $3,000
My wonderful, best friend of a dog was killed. I cried every day for the first week. We didn't have a chain link fence, I used the invisible fence. Unknown to me, the battery had gone dead in his collar and he got hit by a car.
After months of searching, I found another dog that could become near and dear to my heart. I spent the money and had a chain link fence put up. After I'd had the dog for 12 days, she figured out how to open gates with her nose, and was hit by a car and died.
My brother was rear ended by a drunk driver on the interstate. My brother was doing about 70, and the DD was over 100 mph. Both cars went flying. Brother was hurt, but not seriously. DD had no insurance.
My 20 year old daughter was passenger in a small car that was T-boned on the passenger side by a Full sized diesel pick up. Fractured leg, fractured arm, and pelvis broken in 7 places. She's still rehabbing it.
My mom was taking a walk for health on a nice spring day during her lunch break from work. A chevy Avalanche plowed right into her. The driver was fiddling with the radio and not paying attention. Concussion, broken foot, broken arm. A week in the hospital, and three months in rehab.
My father lost his thumb in an accident.
In June I went on a weekend fishing trip with a dear friend of mine that I had been fishing with for years. He kept saying all weekend that his lower stomach hurt. 6 weeks later I was a pallbearer at his funeral.
There's more, but that's just the highlights. So go ahead and play the political game if you want concerning 2007. I took 2007 on a much more personal level.
