The more I hear this song, the more I think that somewhere in there is my Dream Woman. :)

Plus, it has a killer groove.

"Yeah

I was working part time in a five-and-dime
My boss was Mr. McGee
He told me several times that he didn't like my kind
'Cause I was a bit 2 leisurely
Seems that I was busy doing something close 2 nothing
But different than the day before
That's when I saw her, Ooh, I saw her
She walked in through the out door, out door

She wore a
Raspberry beret
The kind U find in a second hand store
Raspberry beret
And if it was warm she wouldn't wear much more
Raspberry beret
I think I love her

Built like she was
She had the nerve 2 ask me
If I planned 2 do her any harm
So, look here
I put her on the back of my bike
And-a we went riding
Down by old man Johnson's farm
I said now, overcast days never turned me on
But something about the clouds and her mixed

She wasn't 2 bright
But I could tell when she kissed me
She knew how 2 get her kicks

She wore a
Raspberry beret
The kind U find in a second hand store
Raspberry beret
And if it was warm she wouldn't wear much more
Raspberry beret
I think I love her

The rain sounds so cool when it hits the barn roof
And the horses wonder who U are
Thunder drowns out what the lightning sees
U feel like a movie star
Listen
They say the first time ain't the greatest
But I tell ya
If I had the chance 2 do it all again

I wouldn't change a stroke
'Cause baby I'm the most
With a girl as fine as she was then

(Raspberry beret)
The kind U find (The kind U find)
The kind U find (In a second hand store)
Oh no no
(Raspberry beret)
(And if it was warm)
Where have all the raspberry women gone? (She wouldn't wear much more)
Yeah (Raspberry beret)
I think I... I think I... I think I love her
(Raspberry beret)
No No No
No No No (The kind U find)
(In a second hand store)
(Raspberry beret)
Tell me
Where have all the raspberry women gone? (And if it was warm she)
(Wouldn't wear much more)
(Raspberry beret)
I think I love..."

"Raspberry Beret" is by Prince. You can probably find it in a gazillion files online, or on at least one Greatest Hits CD by the Purple One. :)

Not one of the online files is close to the sound of you singing it though sweetness.

Its been a while.......

:) How are you, loverly?

You know, I don't often break out into song on the phone. ;)

kitty - it's more the overall attitude than the specific apparel that appeals to me.

ksmybuttons - Well, welcome to the 1990's at least. Stick with me, kid, and we'll bring you right up to today. :D

True enough but jazz tunes by a jazz man are a wonderful thing.

I'm doing good, school is moving along and work is grand.

Whats happening in your world?

I'm tolerable. Work and two choruses are prety much the order of the day. I've stepped up my choral involvement in that I've been asked to be sort of an assistant/peer review guy with both groups. I figure that it can't hurt to accept more of a leadership role.

I'm glad yuo're doing well down there in the land of the tasty peach. ;)

Thanks Jim,

That song brought back memories of being my youngest sister's unofficial chauffeur. She and her friends were cute as the devil dancing in the car on the way to the mall.

:)

There was a particular summer when I was hanging witha girl that loved Prince. Raspberry Beret always makes me think of that summer, with exact images.

This semester I'm in the chorus at school as well and do some stuff on the side as well for special functions.

I never thought I'd be singing again but it feels good.

I always knew you were suited for it. :D

Is it because of that "smoky bourdon laced" quality my voice has?

Thats somewhat close to how you described it once.

Maybe we should both get jobs as phone sex operators.

Well that and your obvious love of music and performance. :)

I wonder if there's a way we could just charge someone to listen to the two of us talk to each other? ;)

I suppose that has something to do with a lack of inhibitions.

I think thats a fantastic idea ....... appeal to the ones who like voyeurism and such. Where should we do our test marketing?

you know, sugah, I listened to this today as well.

Great minds, or like minds, at least.
