...in 'pending' approval after five days. Should I be worried, or is that not unusual? My first was approved in something like two.

Hang tight, I'm on it. Might be a day or two, but I'll get it pushed through. :)

The official answer to "The Question" is in the Frequently Asked Questions. The link is in the first post in the sticky "Welcome Authors! Please Read" which is at the top of the Authors' Hangout.

This is the text of the relevant part of Submission Guidelines:

How long will it take for my story to be posted?

This depends on how many stories we're currently receiving. We try to balance it so that submissions are posted as quickly as possible without overloading the reader and possibly burying your story. A story submitted to Literotica through the procedure outlined above generally will be posted to Lit within 3-7 days.
If we have problems with your story which prevent its publication (i.e. technical issues, etc.), we will let you know via an email to the address on your profile. If a story is submitted strictly via email without following the procedure above, then your story may take weeks to be posted. We highly recommend you follow the steps above.

In practice, when a themed competition isn't in progress, it can take longer for newer authors. It almost ALWAYS takes longer than an author thinks reasonable.

Congrats on beating the odds and getting a quick acceptance of your first submission.

I checked out Ch 01 of your story -- presumably you're concerned about Chapter 02 taking so long to post?

Given the subject matter of Chapter One, and the word "Young" in the title, I suspect you're going to have to bump Chris up a grade (or two) to Senior or otherwise make it explicit that he's older than a typical highschool student before the rest of the story gets accepted.

The first part got accepted without tripping any warning triggers for "underage sex" because there's no real sex in it and no actual reference to Chris' grade level or age -- presumably the second chapter has him in school, pondering how to improve his grades and that is going to get close scrutiny for underage sex before getting approved.

If you're talking about an unrelated story to 'Young Chris Ch 1' the same thing might apply; your story may have tripped some warning in the pre-approval process that sent it to a queue for closer inspection.

Apply for the Literotica Special Olympian Quickie. Approval is immediate and you get 500 bonus points.

Olympian Quickie? Are you kidding me? I never knew that was available. How do I apply and when do I get my bonus points?

Do they have a catalogue, like Green Stamps, that I can cash in my bonus points for prizes? I don't even know how many bonus points I have? How long do you have before they expire?

Damn, why am I always the last to know these things?

I was hoping to cash in some of my bonus points for a Literotica tee shirt, a Literotica hat, or a Literotica key chain shaped in the image of that chick who greets me every day that I open the site.

Hey, thanks for giving me the heads up about the Olympian Quickie.

FREDDIE

STELLA is the only prize. For 1000 points you can sniff her mattress. For 5000 points you get an autographed pic of her dentures soaking. For 10000 you get your choice of 3 pix of STELLA costumed as Johnny Depp or Pee Wee Herman.

I see. There was one vague reference in chapter one to the protagonist being a senior, and therefore implied (I'd hoped) that he was eighteen. Of course in hindsight it makes perfect sense that chapter two might seem questionable on that subject, as I left no clues, and it would be completely unreasonable for a story inspector to have to refer back to a vague reference in chapter one. I just hate stories that spell things out like an instruction manual. I like to be more oblique, but I (now) realize that Lit has directives that must be followed. I'll keep that in mind from now on.

Thanks to everyone for the flurry of response =)

Good advice. Heed his words carefully about the underage issue.

You're just a victim of too many other people using school stories to evade the underage restriction. If people could be trusted to just accept the restriction, it wouldn't be necessary to check highschool stories so closely -- or for authors to present birth certificates for every character. :D

The story file might just be bogged down. It took four days for my entry last week to post--and it hasn't gone above three days in the last three years. Don't hyperventilate over the underage bit until you actually receive a rejection.

The process may well be bogged down. I submitted a simple edit to a story almost two weeks ago. It shows 6 views but is still 'pending'.
