My roomie's Lit ID always comes up

So, first off, I am almost positive that this is a laptop problem, not a Literotica problem. I wanted to state that up front. But I'm hoping that a good Samaritan out there will assist me.

So, I don't have a computer myself, so I use my roomie's laptop sometimes, and we both have Literotica IDs. (It is an Acer laptop with Windows 10 and Internet Explorer.)

When ever I start up Lit, his ID comes up. Never mine, unless the last person to use Lit logged out before shutting down, even if I was the last person to be on Lit.

Doesn't matter whether or not I type forum.literotica.com into the address bar at the top or use the icon on the task bar to open Lit, this happens.

Also, even if I have logged him out and signed in myself, if I open a 2nd or 3rd tab open -- for instance to have an IC thread tab, an OOC tab, and a PM tab open all at the same time -- each time I open one of these additional tabs EVEN if the 1st tab is my ID, the 2nd, 3rd, etc. tab opens with his ID. Now, because there are 2 IDs open on the laptop at one time, the pages get all locked up and the text lost any time I try to post or preview.

The only way I have found to get around this is to start an "InPrivate Browsing" session.

I have deleted the history and cookies and everything I can think of, but it doesn't matter: if he did not log out the last time he was on Lit, the next time I come on his ID comes up.

Any ideas?

You are on the right track, just always use in private browsing in IE or incognito window in chrome.

A few:
You don't say what Internet browser you are using.
If it's Windows 10, the built-in browser is MS Edge.
Can you be more specific?

There are settings in most browsers (usually under the 'Privacy' banner) that can retain User Names, etc. You could try looking through the settings to see if there's anything you can find that might be retaining his 'ID'.

If that doesn't help, you could simply both use a Private Window for your Lit sessions - you can still open multiple Tabs in a Firefox Private Window, and it will retain your login credentials for the time that the Private Window is open. When you close it, your credentials are discarded and your privacy is ensured

Or - you could install another browser (Firefox, Chrome, etc.) and use that one exclusively for your Lit sessions

More likely it would be cookies. They would share the same IP address

I used "Delete History", which I thought eliminated all cookies, and yet it continues. Am I not understanding something about deleting cookies?

Y'know, it's very possible that since it's his laptop, he WANTS his information to stay there. You may be well advised to ask him if you can delete his saved information before you start mucking around with it.

My roomie and I both have lit accounts and he has never had his own computer. He uses my computer and we do not have this problem. This has been true for 7 years.

Possible solutions for you:
1) get your own comluter, laptop, tablet, kindle, etc.....
2) create seperate windows ID so they log into their destop on the computer or you log into yours
3) use different browsers. If they use firefox then you use chrome.... dont overlap

It is entirely possible that you have not completely cleared out cookies. This coukd be because of your roomates settings of cookies to keep when attempt to clear cookies is made. This is possible even if your roomie did not know they did this.

Your best option is to use different browser. InPrivate does not track and does not use previous cookies. If InPrivate works then an alternate browser like firefox should work fine.

Let roomie use their first choice of browser and you use something different.

The History has nothing to do with saving Web-Page data. That just saves the URL addresses.
It could be cookies, but Wkd_Macey is right - its far more likely to be a Privacy Setting.

I've highlighted the browser that MITL is using since some folks missed it.

This is most likely because form data and passwords are being saved in IE on this machine. There are two things to look at if you have not already done so.

1. Clearing data anytime you want. This wont stop form data from being saved but it does clear it and the new data that you enter is going to get saved. Try this:

• 
  Click on the gear icon on the top right corner in IE.
  In the General tab -> Browsing history, check the box "Delete browsing history on exit".
• Click on the "Delete..." button below it. In the window that pops up, check all the boxes except the last one called "Tracking Protection ...". Confirm with your roommate that he/she agrees to delete all of this history everytime IE exits.
• Click the "Delete" button at the bottom of this window. This deletes all the items that you checked and takes you back to the settings window that you opened in 1.a.
• Click the "Apply" button at the bottom of this window to save the settings.

2. Managing "AutoComplete" settings. This is what stores the entries on webpages and stuff like that.

• Click on the "Content" tab in the window that you opened in 1.a. GO to the "AutoComplete" section in the middle, or wherever it is in IE on Windows 10.
• Click on the "Settings" button on the right.
• Select what you want to AutoComplete to save and unselect what you do not want AutoCOmplete to save.
• In your case, "Forms" and "User names and passwords on forms" should be unchecked.
• Click on the "Delete AutoComplete history..." button.
• Click OK.
• Click Apply.
• Click OK.

Try what I have suggested above if you haven't already.

This is a good idea too so that you don't mess with your roommate's browser settings. However, your roommate's privacy gets compromised.

I will never share a windows computer again without setting up a separate account for that user. It tends to comingle our browsing data especially in browsers that automatically log in or sync browser info. Also means that if your roommate is bored they can find out a lot more about what you're doing online than is preferable.

Another browser?

If you can't do separate User Accounts, try using a different browser, one where your roommate has not saved his user credentials. Not that you should save yours, but at least it won't automatically log in as him. You should probably be able to leave his IE10 window logged into Lit as him, without conflicting.
