Once again Matt looked at his sister and wondered how she had turned out so beautiful. She had been such a Tom Boy as a child and used to be by his side playing everything he did and getting into all of the same mischief. They had been the closest of friends, not just brother and sister.
He was only a year older than her, and their mother had died giving birth to her. Their dad had brought them up all on his own, but Matt had been his sister's protector for as long as he could remember. Ever since they had both been old enough to go to school, their father had gone back to full time work. They were now so used to coming home to an empty house and cooking their own dinners that they thought that's what all kids did.
When they were really young their dad had cooked them for them and left them for them to reheat in the microwave. By eight Matt had taken over cooking the family meals and by ten they were both pretty good cooks. There dad was grateful as he didn't have to cook when he got home and he had a hot meal waiting for him.
He was a foundry worker and worked long hours to support them and Matt loved him for it. He was determined to earn enough money to enable his Dad to retire soon and live out his life in comfort. However there was something that was holding him back. His sister.
As they had grown older he found his feelings towards her changing from brotherly love to true love. He loved his sister and wanted to be with her the way a boy and a girl should be together. He had been taught that was wrong in school but he didn't care, he loved her and that was all there was too it.
of course if he knew she did not love him he would have done nothing and moved on, but he had seen her looks and knew she felt the same way too. Unfortunately she had taken to heart all that they had taught her in school and she could not get over it and was denying her feelings. Well Matt was going to have to do something about that If she told him to stop in no uncertain terms he would and they would never speak of it again. however if it went as he thought it would, then he had a long road ahead of him.
