My pussy is feeling better.

My cat, I mean. Surely you didn't think . . .?

Anyway all you cat lovers, hubby spent a couple of hours today at the pet emergency room with our gorgeous calico tabby. (Yes, he is quite the guy, isn't he?)

Problem is, we don't know exactly what's wrong with her, but at least several things have been ruled out. Like a bad tooth, diabetes, bladder or urinary tract infection, anything viral or bacterial, etc.

We're taking her back tomorrow morning for more tests (and because they want to flush her system with I.V. fluids). Her symptoms include weight loss despite a ravenous appetite and extremely active behavior (lately she's been attempting to fly by jumping halfway up the door jams).

We're thinking hyperthyroidism; if so we can give her meds every day and monitor. There is surgical treatment and even radiation like they use for humans but she doesn't need to be put through that.

Yes, we're broke. *sigh*

She's worth it - she's snuggly and loving and gorgeous. If I can find a pic I'll post it.

So how's your pussy today?

Have them check allergies too Sweet. We had a cat that was eating like crazy but loosing weight and very lisless, turns out she was allergic to fish.

Hopeing your pussy gets better :rose:

Laying next to me purring her little orange stripped head off.

About the same as the pic except my leg has taken the place of the stuffed teddy-otter.

And lots of love to your kitty.

A cat allergic to fish? That's a new one.

Hope your lovely darling gets better soon, sss.

sss,

I pussy-sat for my neighbor across the hall two summers ago. Now Muffin spends as much time with me as he does his Mother.

Muffie has oodles of toys at home but comes over to play with me, because I have the patience to dangle string.

Muffin's mother makes much more than I, but if she were broke and Muffie were sick, I'd break open my piggybank.

Your Calico couldn't have a stash of catnip hidden about the place, now could she?

One of my cats is allergic to fish as well, if he eats any seafood at all he ends up in convulsions and loosing consciousness. He's had to have his stomach pumped a number of times since he had a liking for the neighbours goldfish, pity I wasn't as fond of the after hours vet bills. The biggest problem now is keeping a stock of seafood free catfood.

Hope your kitty's better soon. :)

:D

I'm wondering.

And whenever we're gone she probably invites the neighborhood toms over, calls out for pizza and curses like a sailor.

My cat got ran over and killed on the weekend. My mum accidentally backed over her. It was horrible. Luckily she died quickly. But I feel bad for my mum as she blames herself.
I feel so bad and I'll never get over the sight of her.

And (just a rant while I'm at it) a girl I went out with on Friday and I thought had a nice time is now just completely ignoring me. So I'm basically feeling pretty sorry for myself.

I hope your cat will be ok. I wouldn't wish this on anyone.

Pussies or pups, it's all "situation normal"

One of mine ate Ibuprophen tablets...

Two fifty quidsworth of vet bills later, old (young) 'Iron Guts' is doing fine - "What was the fuss about?"

Ya still love 'em and do what ya can, irregardless of the bills.

I'm with ya, Sweet!

Mine is good. I would love to see a pic of yours.

On that other subject though I don't really like cats. I don't mean that bad, they like me and I like all animals. I even like other peoples cats. I have a little puppy dog, I named him Scooter, he is still a puppy but he is growing fast. He is asleepin right now so I'm trying to type quietly.

I am sorry your cat got sick and hope he gets better.

How old is Scooter, Lisa? Mine (Leo and Toby) are 16 weeks and 4 days. Little (but now not so little) hooligans, but still oh so cute.

Sorry to hear about your cat. My cat had those same symptoms about 3 months ago.

We did all kinds of test and still don't really know what was wrong.

The vet said she was pretty sure it was something with his liver and put him on antibiotics and soft cat food.

He was down to 5 pounds and every bone in his body stuck out. He is now up to 17 pounds and his old self.

It does get expensive but good luck.

I am sorry about your cat as well. I had that once to, my cat got out over night and I walked out to go to work and saw her in the road.

It is a site that sticks with you and sucks on top of it. :(

Hope you feel better soon.

Old. But that's because she is. She's been with me since the 80's.

Sorry to hear about your ailing pussy SSS. Hope all goes well. My cats are getting up in age and I'm worrying about health issues for them too.
Have you ever heard of cat medical insurance? Sounds funny but it may be a good investment.

Hi Eff, I am glad you asked cause I was surprised. He is only about two months, uh, 8 weeks. I figure that cause I've had him 5 weeks, I am assuming he was 2 or 3 weeks old when I got him cause he just started on eating real food. I had to mix tuna fish in with it and water to make it soft for him.

He used to not eat much but now he will pig out on a huge bowl of dog food and then start barking for more an hour later. I still get him the kind with little bite-sized chunks for puppies. I forget what flavor it is, I don't think he cares, when I bought the huge bag home he jumped on it cause it has a picture of a big hunting dog type puppy on the front. He thinks he is "Scooter, great hunting-killer puppy dog of the wild." You might think he smelled it and loves it for the flavor but I think he likes it for the picture.

I am still teaching him stuff, like "down" and "No, no, you stupid mutt." He has pretty much gotten those. He likes to play fetch in the backyard, he will fetch sticks or balls and bring them back.

He has a huge stuffed fish that he carries around in his mouth, it is his favorite toy. My brothers wife gave it to him and it goes squeak when he bites it. It is starting to look kinda ucky but he won't let me take it to wash it or nothing. He knows "the fish" is his and he is very protective of it when he isn't killing it.

He loves pancakes, on Sat. and Sun. mornings we have pancakes but he doesn't get butter or syrup on his cause he kills his pancakes before he eats them.

I haven't had a dog since I was a little kid but I guess you can tell I am really starting to like him. When I woke up for the umptenth time tonight and finally figured out I couldn't sleep and got out of bed he came and slobbered all over my ankles to try to make me feel better.

I figured SSS wouldn't mind me side-hi-jacking this thread cause its the middle of the night in america and hardly nobody is postin.

I hope her cat gets better, she sounds really worried cause they can't find out whats wrong with him, or her I think she said. I hope she gets better and it wasn't anything serious and SSS will be all happy tomorrow.

As a matter of fact, I haven't, not in years, thought that is. And don't call me, Shirley.

In the true spirit of your title "My pussy is feeling better" I'd like to add that my cock is feeling a little underused. That poor rooster's just not the same since we bought an alarm clock. Surely you didn't think...?

Goodness! What are you using to encourage your layers to keep putting out?

We have medical insurance for our cat, male by the name of Capella (He's a little confused - so were we). He got insured after experimenting with flying. (In the Pythonesque mode - remember those sheep)

Cat medical insurance is really good, he's not had a thing wrong since we took it out.:D

No diagnosis yet -

But kitty spent the day with the vet.

Her heart rate was up to about 260 - dangerously high (even angry and nervous kitties only range 160-180 or so).

The vet pumped her full of I.V. fluids to help flush elevated liver enzymes from her system. And apparently he had to give her a dose of kitty laughing gas for sedation because she was so feisty. I would have LOVED to have seen that!

The T4 blood test results won't be in until tomorrow but he's fairly certain it is hyperthyroidism and has already discussed her medication.

Actually, he's also discussed radiation isotopic treatment just like they do for humans. I don't think we'll go that direction. Not to mention the serious expense they'd also have to keep her with the lab rats for up to two weeks because she'd be "radioactive". Nope.

Anyway! She's home again, hissing and spitting and making us all pay for putting her through this ordeal. :cattail:

Thanks everyone for your kind words and good thoughts!

Rumple? I'd love to see your cock, er, rooster.

And pops - lots of love back to you and Moggy Monty!

Yeah, ain't that great?

Got the tee-shirt - though it says 'puppy' not 'cat'. Like yours, mine's fine now.

It's great!
