Okay...I moved the computer (a borrowed one) over to my new pad. Yippee. I even have some crappy dial up internet action going on so that I can reconnect with the cyber-world for a while. :D

UNFORTUNATELY....
this silly computer doesn't seem to recognize the mouse anymore.

I'm using Windows 2000 and I have an Optical Wheel Mouse (USB).

Anybody have any ideas? I've tried all the logical stuff...

If someone thinks they can help, either reply here or please IM me on Yahoo (yngrosebud).

THANKS IN ADVANCE!!
:D

*cough*bump*cough*

This tabbin' around shit is getting really old fast. lol

Thank God I know how to use a 'puter w/o a mouse. Heh.

cuss at it. Give it a dirty look.. ground it.. take away its computer for a week. And if that still doesn't work. super glue it to a ceeling.

was your mouse working before you had this problem? I had a keyboard brand I sued to buy and it would sometimes not recognize I had a keyboard then I would have to go buy a new one cause I'm not as pc savy as I like to think I am :D

Are you sure there's not a different reason your fingers are tired????

Yes, I'm horny.

:D

Did you try switching USB ports, I've had one go bad on me before.

Yeah, I actually did try that. :D It recognizes that there is new hardware, but I can't find the driver. It was installed *this morning* when I left my old apartment, and now I can't seem to get it re-installed... (And I've *uninstalled it* to clear the spot - or whatever the computer jargon is for that.)

And Eumenides? Shaddayp. :D Hahahahha (if my fingers get too tired, there will be no energy for that! LOL)

Wow, I've never had a USB mouse require a driver to work. And I've used some off-the-wall brands. Can't you just select a default/generic driver for the mouse?

You shouldn't need a driver unless you want it to do some of the options like the pointer automatically coming over the last tab. Right click on "my computer" and select properties. Go to hardware and select "device manager". It should tell you if there is a conflict.

just get a new mouse, if its old it could simply be broken from dropping it too much (we all do it)
i had a keyboard that was really old that stopped being recognized by the puter at random, then randomly causing windows to freeze. eventually i just said fuck this, i can afford a 20 dollar keyboard and then bam, everything worked fine.

She just said it reconizes it, just not working.

Now that is funny. Her mouse doesn't work. She'll have to TAB/ENTER through it all. :)

Is there a possibility that the mouse or the mouse cord was damaged during the move?

Is this a new mouse, or has it been used for a while?

Did installing the mouse driver overwrite your USB driver with the wrong version? (do other USB devices have problems too?)

Do you have the windows and mouse driver disks or are you working from the existing windows installation?
