nothing like using all of your major muscle groups (calves, thighs, butt, abs, arms, back, shoulders) at once to make you feel out of shape. the plus side is that i can get my excercise done in much less time.

i have a love-hate relationship with the gym. i like exercise, i like the way it makes me feel, and even though i feel like i want to die during the last 5 minutes of my workout, i even enjoy the time spent exercising. probably because it's one of the few things that actually gets me to stop thinking for a while.

the excercises i actually enjoy are swimming and using the elliptical trainer, but i know i need to mix things up, thus the time spent on the rowing machine today.

so what is your favorite piece of equipment at the gym? how do you get your exercise?

and for those of you lucky enough to get a regular work out of the sexual variety: kiss my ass :p

I use the stationary bike

:p

I adore swimming. I haven't been in a pool since March of 99, don't see it happening anytime soon either.

Cardio, I bike or treadmill.

Weights, I like Hammersmith and freeweights. I prefer to tailor the amount of weight and reps for each muscle group. I hate doing anything with my calves because I can't hold enough weight to actually work them.

My absolute favorite is hiking. I could walk for just ever.

I own a Nordic track, but I'm not always home.

Most of my life I've relied on standing or walking whenever possible, callesthetics, & a jump rope.

Haven't done a thing all month. Lost 2 lbs.

i cant stand rowing machines, go figure i'm cordinated to do seriously hard martial arts moves, but cant get down the movements for that damn exercise machine, i'll stick to the bike, treadmill, stair climbers, and the weight machines

i love running...i love yoga..i do this circuit training class at my gym that is LOTS of fun

i hate the stairmaster..i think that is my mortal enemy

the stairmaster, spelling and punctuation...i hate those guys

They may look alike, but believe me, regardless of whether you are giving or receiving, you can tell the difference! :D :p

elliptical trainer <-- death machine

uuuuggghhhhh... I keep trying to increase my time on this evil machine each time I go to the gym.

i like the elliptical, i can fell like i'm running without the impact of actual running.

i used that before was kinda easy, had to keep reminding myself to slow down, but my leggs just kept going and going like the damn energizer bunny

I love swimming, it has to be my favorite sort of excersize. If I can't get to the pool, it's generally a coreographed dance work out, followed by sit ups, push ups, and leg lifts (you want to tone your abs, try em, they are not as easy as one would think, if done right). For my arms, I generally do alot of heavy lifting around the house.

Best Weekly Work Out I know of: House Cleaning.

As a rower for many years, the ergometer machine has always been a torture device. I tend to go as far away from it as I can at the gym.

Even though I'm not much of a fan, I run. I'm partial to free weights and I've just gotten some rollerblades. I will be a speedskater, dammit. I just wanna give Apollo Ohno a good ass smackin'.

my favorite exercise is ice skating. At the gym, i prefer the elliptical trainer.

I like the stair master but since I discovered the pace trainer I've never been able to go back to it...I LOVE the pace trainer. It's like a fancy ski machine that inclines and changes resistance and speeds as you go along the course.

I can burn 600 calories on that thing in 40 minutes.

I want to fucking marry it.

My fave piece of gym equipment? I'd have to say either a freeweight leg press (makes me feel powerful, cus I can do LOTS of weight on that) or the rowing machine.. I like it for the reason that you hate it.. it works all the muscle groups. I only row when I'm REALLY pissed off, or when I need to think, cus I can let my brain wander while my body just goes through the motions... sometimes I row so hard so long that I have to crawl off of the machine (it's in my studio, so I don't have to embarrass myself by crawling through a gym), but I feel fantastic once I hit the shower... I think I'm gonna row tomorrow. ;)

THIS MIGHT INTEREST YOU SEX

I prefer to use the stairmaster. I used to walk the threadmill for 30 minutes and set the speed and incline so that I would burn 10 calories per minute.

Then I read that the Stairmaster burns 3 times the calories and bodyfat in half of the time. And damned if that wasn't true!! By the time I've done 20 minutes on the Stairmaster, I've burned 360 calories.

Give it a try sometime.

I used to work out at a gym that had a Life Fitness LifeRower machine. I managed to put my name on alot of the levels. But in a couple of months, and after beating everyone else's scores, it got boring and I saw no physical results.

I know how you feel! I'm procrastinating on going back into the gym because I know that when it gets into full swing, no more social life. I'm going to hit it tomorrow morning, a two hour session. I used to train six days a week, got out of it, and have been on a hit and miss system.
I pay monthly for 24hr fitness club, like the name says, they're 24/7. It's stupid to pay for something I don't use (alimony?), so I have an incentive to workout.
My favorite equipment is free weights with flat bench, incline bench, free standing bench, cable pulldown machine, leg bicep machine, squat rack, hack squat machine, smith press machine, and my favorite machine...my truck that drives me away from there! Happy sweating! :D

My favorite machines at the gym are the Hammer Strength machines. Mostly the flat bench press and the preacher curl Hammer Strength machines. They're built like machines but they work with free weights, as opposed to cable weights.

I'm in the gym 4 to 5 times a week, I love it!!:)

I spend most of my time on free weights, and for cardio I will either do stationary bike or running in the park.:)

I like machines that work multiple muscle groups.

I don't like to be in the gym for too long, so I mostly like them. Whether I'm doing a cardio, or weight workout. Having a short effective workout, whether than a long tedious one works for me. It's not the length of time, but the quality of the workout. Lifting weights properly, and cordinating your cardio will help you get the desired results. Too many times I see people not using machines properly, and then complaining about not getting the desired results. It is true that some people can have bad techniques and get good results. Others can have the same bad techniques and have bad results. My suggestions. Get the help you need first, and then try it on your own.

I need to go do my cardio. See you at the gym folks.

I hate the gym

It's a good thing Uncle Sam makes me go to the gym, cuz I just hate it. It's so boring! running is even worse for me. The worst is ab work though......uuuughhh. I only "work-out" cuz I absolutly have to. At the gymn I do a-lot of free weight work for strength, and play racket ball, for cardio.
I keep in shape by ridding mostly. I just started training a 17.5 hand, 1800#, throughbred, right off the track. He has only one gear, GO!
If you want a full body workout, try that sometime. After the first 2 days of trying to hold him to a walk, my whole body hurt! Arms legs, back, abs, butt, everything. Now after 3 weeks of teaching this hammer head to relax, he's getting fat an lazy, and I'm in better shape than I have been in 12 yrs.
