I believe that people one a gender always assume things are true for one gender and not the other...
I have known some beautiful, smart, wonderful women who have hooked up with the most base, ugly, stupid, sometimes abusive mentally and physically...men..
The truth is that many people, even though they may be attractive both inside and outside, are insecure and don't think they can do any "better" and thus hook up with people who are ugly, inside and out
Also, others may have discovered an inner beauty that belies their exterior appearance

Trini Lopez had a top ten hit many years ago: "If you wanna be happy for the rest of your life, make an ugly woman your wife."
The reason for that advice is just as valid now as it was in the 60's -- Ugly women work harder to please a man. That isn't always absolutely true, but it's true often enough to be a cliche.
