So, I did my research, and talked with a various of Doms, and some subs, too.....

Now, I am beginning my journey!

But I am nervous, although I am excited!

For me, I feel the first step, after talking with some Doms and subs online, is meeting some of them at a munch.

AND tonight, I am going to my first munch and I really, really hope that I will have a good time and perhaps learn a few things from meeting some people I have talked with online, face-to-face!

And who knows, what tonight will bring for me! What will happen after the munch?



So, I thought why not make a thread of my journey and give my news and experiences and thoughts/feelings. It also might give some people who might be new to the bdsm world/lifestyle/community and give them some confidence in making their own steps in their own time!

I also would appreciate some advice/suggestions etc!

Hint for munch: if it's a meal setting, as many in this area are, eat finger food so you can move around and meet bunches of folk.

Advice: if it ain't fun, don't do it!

I am glad to say that I have survived the first munch and have enjoyed myself extremely!

Will write more about the first munch when I am a little more sober!! *giggles*

Hi,

Here is the story in details!

8.30pm - arrived at the munch.....feeling nervous, not sure if I wanted to go in....texted ~A (someone I have chatted with online but never met) and he came out...took me in the pub.

Everyone waved hello to me and I said Hi to ~T (another person I have chatted with online) and we shook hands!

Then I sat down next to ~A, feeling very very shy! And not sure what to do next! ~A and ~T talked to me for a while....writing and more writing!

The crowd looked normal (much to my surprise...somehow, I had a mental picture in my mind, where the guys would dress odd, and had some fetish gear!! *laughs*)

Then more people arrived and some people came over to talk to me and introduced themselves, etc.

For ages, I talked with one lady (who is a Domme) and she was really nice, made me relax! We wrote with ease, asked questions etc. Rarely, we did talk about the bdsm stuff.....

12.30pm - oh my god, it was that time already???? Time for me to go home! Enjoyed the night, time flew by so quickly!! (of course the drink did help, as well!)

It was like a normal night out in a pub but with kinky people!! It was an awesome night and I would go again!

caz... The kind of experience you had is why I always encourage new people in the scene to get out of their houses, get out from behind the computer, and meet the people in their local community.

The fears and concerns people have before attending their first munch are very rarely a reality they will encounter. Yes, sometimes newbie subs will get hit on by the guys looking for fresh meat. But far more often than not it's just a casual, friendly, relaxed time for everyone.

I'm glad things went well during this first step into the real BDSM community! I hope your experiences continue to be good ones!

It can be tricky to navigate the kink world as a single girl. Not so much that some big scary Dom will take over your life, more that ... I don't know... my experience has been that others want you to play or do things by their timetable rather than yours. The tricky part is to keep asking, what is right for me?

What is a munch?

Local BDSM organizations will often have a monthly meeting called a "munch". It's usually held in a resturaunt, and people just hang out to eat/drink/talk. Dress code is usually casual, no overt displays of kink occur, and there isn't any sex or anything. It's a good way to meet people in real life, find out if any classes/seminars are being offered, etc.

Evil_Geoff & FurryFury, yes I have to agree, it's so not as scary as I thought it would be! The reality is more better than the mental picture I have got in my mind!

intothewoods, yes it is hard to explore the kinky/bdsm world as a single person, but I have been lucky to have made some lovely friends online, before the munch and made a couple of new friends since the munch. I have not got guys hitting on me....yet....but I am enjoying the exploring so far and hoping to have some fun along the way!

You know, it's always nice to meet others that share something you do. Submissive women are always nice to meet, if you are a submissive woman, too (not that a manly male Dom such as myself wouldn't want to meet some nice submissive women, too) and they can clue you in on other group members that might be worth getting to know or might be worth leaving alone, because they've maybe been there and done that.

I'm sure there are some that would just love to take you under their wing and fill you in on all of the tasty gossip. Then, you are no longer an outsider, a newbie, a stranger...a target. But, you are still new meat, so keep your eyes focused. LOL.

The munch were fun but a bit nerve-wrecking, DVS, for two reasons; 1. I am very shy when meeting new people and 2. I am deaf, so communicating only by paper and pen or gestures! But I was lucky to have chatted with a few people online before meeting face-to-face so they knew that I was deaf and once I arrived, the people were friendly and were not too bothered by my deafness and wrote things down with me, so it was a big relief for me!

I think I did make some new friends! There were some girls there, but I have spoken with a couple of girls - one was a Switch and the other was a Domme. Both were really nice and easy to talk with!

There were some interesting guys at the munch, but didn't talk much with them, only with ~A & ~T, although there were a guy who came over and talked with me, which were nice too!

I think I will go again, it was a fun night, met some really nice people! I think I will go by myself to the next one, but the ones after that, who knows?

They seem like a nice group of people. Maybe you should ask the Domme to fill you in on some of the people. Who's with who, who's submissive and who's Dom and things like that. Oh, and who's available could be a good question to ask. That way, when someone comes to talk to you, you know if they are free to talk or if they are maybe two timing their wife/girlfriend/sub/slave. No need to become the "other woman" of the group, just yet. LOL.
