Someone asked me recently about my home town.

I grew up in the town where The Trailer Park Boys, April Wine, Sloan and Joel Plaskett grew up.

Here's a video of a song by Joel Plaskett, whom almost none of you have ever heard of.

(edited thanks gypsytx!)

The video was filmed in my home town and pretty much every location used is a place which holds memories for me.

And if you wind up liking Joel, lots of his material is available and usually contains references to our local versions of Universal Truths.

Cool song.
Though not as cool as the Justin Bieber songs that you keep sharing.

The Spiders from Mars come from my hometown. Also the greatest anti-slavery proponent.

I once rented a car, started in Halifax, drove south to Lunenburg (one of the prettiest places I've ever seen, I don't know why Peggy's Cove gets all the tourists) and then right down to Yarmouth, north to Digby, up through the Annapolis valley, and on to Cape Breton, driving the Cabot Trail. One of the most memorabe trips of my life.

Few places can beat the combination of cleanliness, friendliness, safety, scenery and relaxed life Nova Scotia offers.

My great-grandfather is from Bear River. Someday a road trip will take me there.

Plus, OMG, the seafood! I had scallops the size of baseballs in Digby, I swear you could only eat maybe two or three. Om nom nom.

Good job, lanciepoo: this Playgrounder thread of yours debuted @ #13 for the young year so far.

However...

Lorilei, Twatterville Social Chair and Dog Pound Director, has sent word that she'd like you soooo much more if you'd start posting this side you want others to know about you in the homer Twatterville thread.

See, lanciepoo, your fellow progressives really, really want to like you, but even they need a whole, whole lot less of the real you to actually do so.

Help the wannabes out, eh?

I made almost exactly the same trip a few years back with friends from there. It was glorious, and Cape Breton, in particular, is spectacular.

Yeah, and that drive, right? Winding your way down the cliffs with the sea on one side. I'm not religious, but for me that's the closest thing to feeling near to God.

Nearly hit a moose in Cape Breton, too. The rental car company would have appreciated that, no doubt.

Well, Lance's only redeeming feature may be his place of birth, but at least he has that to fall back on.

You, eyer, don't seem to have any redeeming features.

I think you should win us all over with your own touchy feely thread.

Tell us more about life in the desert, living off the grid in the 200 square foot trailer.

:D

That's even lame by Twatterville's 3rd grade standards.

See, that's the deal, lady huey...

I have no need like lanciepoo to bore the Board so much with self-fluffing PR because you and other playgrounders are so good at fabricating my story yourselves.

I would rather get bored reading about the desert, than all the other crap you spew everywhere. It's you who seems to have the burning desire to bore everyone with all your other shit, incessantly and ad nauseum. Yet, somehow that makes you better than me, or Lorelei, or even Lance?

Talking to people about a beautiful place to visit is far preferable to you with your ongoing obsessions.

Anyway...

Cape Breton. Amazing place. Worth taking that drive. Just not in winter unless you fancy a swift trip into the ocean.

I love Cape Breton. We used to go there in the summers.

I have never been to Halifax or Dartmouth though.

But yet...

You obviously enjoy posting your own fiction and whining like a Twat much, much more than you're 2nd grade able to simply use the ignore feature.

I'm sure lanciepoo enjoys your Playground submissiveness almost as much as you obviously do.

Now
...

...open wide so he can ball gag you.
