My first visit here

These boards were mentioned to me by chance on another message board site which is disintegrating steadily, so I'd thought I'd check y'all out for a while... Here's a silly little ditty I wrote when I was a meagre 13 years old....

WARM BEER

All day long
Sitting at home
Getting drunk

Flick a switch
On with the news
Public outcry

Fridge is open
Damn! Warm beer
Off to bed


Ok ok ok I know it's a bit crap, but if I like these boards, then I'll post something of a slightly better quality.. (I hope)..

All comments, derogatory or otherwise, are very welcome..

I think this is a sad and disturbing poem. I think you say a lot with a few words. It makes me wonder where the parents were, and why a 13 year-old was home all day drinking. Then you write about the public outcry on the news and the warm beer as though they're reason enough to just go off to bed.
In contrast, I was 13 in the late 70s and still playing with my barbies on occasion.

I don't think it's a completely true reflection of my "life" as a 13-year old, but my awareness of "issues" at that age were far beyond those of a "normal" child. I certainly wasn't out playing childrens games with my friends; most of my friends were in their mid-to-late teens, hence drinking wasn't alien to me, nor was warm beer.
