My first of two observations for the day

So, as I was coming back from work I stopped in the liquor store for the first time in ages to pick up stuff(I'm still on the wagon but my sister is staying with me a few days and she needs me to buy for her) and one of the things she asked for is Smirnoff Ice.

Now, for those of you who aren't familiar to Smirnoff Ice it is a 7% vodka drink that tastes exactly like sprite. If you gave it to me in a blind taste test I couldn't say if it was alcoholic. Really revolting stuff(Although the story of how I know what it tastes like is another story)

So anyway, both of the liquor stores were completely sold out of the crap. None in the city they tell me. The Tickle Me Elmo of girly drinks.

So, I'm wondering, are people out there really so afraid of drinking real alcohol that they have to resort to drinking this kind of crap??? Where are all the people from my college days who'd drink grain alcohol on a 10$ bet?

Man, I need to start drinking again.

My nephew drinks that garbage too! Nasty tasting shit if you ask me!

(And i remember puking them back up, too. How's THAT for sexy?)

They call those kind of drinks "Alcoho-pops" here and the drinks industries got in deep shit with the Brit Govt for marketing them in bottles that made them look just like the kind of soft drink you'd give a kid.
