I'LL GO FIRST.

This is my dog Sadie.

She is 3 years old.

I adopted her 2 years ago.

She was hit by a car when she was less than a year old.

Her former owner, dropped her off at the Humane Society and they fixed her up.

She's now fully recovered and runs all over my property, without some much as a limp.

This is Fatty Yum-Yums. She's my li'l dolt. I love her, but if she was any dumber, she would have to be watered twice a week. 🤣

Other names for her: Fatty Ding-Dongs, Fatniss Everdeen, Chonks Ahoy, and Flab Rangoon.

This is her 'Pour tequila in my navel and lie to me!' pose.

To the left is Sia. She's an easygoing, playful and sometimes vicious little princess.
To the right is Leo. He's gentle, needs a lot of cuddles, scares easily and can be a moody little prick on occasion. He loves to contest my sleeping place. When I go to bed, I sleep like any other person. When I wake up the next morning, I'm at least at a 45 degree angle, my feet are on my wife's mattress, spread wide and he's jammed between my knees, his hind legs on my left thigh and his head on my right knee, like that wooden board in King's "Misery" movie. You remember the wooden board, right? :)

Leo looks like our old cat Zeus.(took him in when my SIL moved)

Pets are always trying to steal our places to sleep.

I have to admit, I thought this thread would be much busier.
We've had some cases where people found out the RL identities of forum posters and caused trouble, and photos can give away a lot of information, so that might be why you're not seeing more replies here. If I posted mine I'd have to check through the photos for identifying background details and make sure their tags aren't readable, and that it's not a pic I've already put up on social media under my real name.

So no photos, alas, but I promise my cats are cute. One "imperious princess of the night", one "sweet doofus".

Your dog reminds me of an old rescue we used to have. Poor boy had been mistreated and had issues from it, but he mellowed out a lot while he was with us - unfortunately we only got a few years with him.

and it’s not just identifying details, it’s image search. So posting the same picture to somewhere innocuous and here can be a vector.

If @sm’s next post is last four of our ssn’s, I’ll just give up. ;-)

I have no pets right now and have no intention of getting any in the near future. I like other people's pets, especially dogs. I have owned both dogs and cats.

Might not even need to be the same picture.

Image recognition/search tech is making good progress on the "find me pictures that look like this one" problem. Human faces are probably the most advanced area of research, but I'd be shocked if somebody wasn't working on "find me pictures taken in the same room as this one".

The real problem with this kind of thing, if you want to protect your privacy, is that you have to make your decisions not just around what the tech can do now, but what it might be able to do in five or ten years' time. So, yeah, I hate to be a downer but anybody who wants to protect their RL identity ought to be very careful with sharing photos.

My three PITA's. Mozzie is my blue heeler mixed breed. The little cat looking at the camera is May. The other one is Cure. This was one of their uncommon quiet times.

He was the last of my pets before I retired. He died not long after that. I raised him from a pup. His name was Rudy. He loved kids. Let them hang all over him, he even let my youngest granddaughter ride him like a horse. German Rottweiler and American Pit Bull mix.
