Welcome to my new time-wasting, dear god she's bored and getting drunk again thread!

So I usually discover a new word and meaning every other day, I have to run and look it up, I need to know absolutely everything!

Hell, I've even looked up the origin of a phrase and why coleslaw is called coleslaw before!

So this is our Lounge vocabulary list!

So the name of the game is your new favourite word!
Give me the name, the meaning and where it came up along with any notes about why you like it! ;)

Go nuts Lounge lovers!

VICARIOUS

vi·car·i·ous adj.
1. Felt or undergone as if one were taking part in the experience or feelings of another: read about mountain climbing and experienced vicarious thrills.
2. Endured or done by one person substituting for another: vicarious punishment.

This word came to a lot of use between myself and my bestestestestest friend in the whole galaxy! She's about 2 states away and we talk ALL the time on IM/Email/Phone. She's my vicarious drinker and I'm hers. I'm her vicarious lover and she's mine....

Bollocks

A highly flexible word commonly used by the English.
1: Something rubbish
2: A series of falsehoods
3: Exclamation on making an error
and ofc: Testicles

One of the best swearwords without actually swearing. I'm not a person who likes the American style swear words, so I love words like this one.

Lascivious- luh-siv-ee-us-

1.
inclined to lustfulness; wanton; lewd: a lascivious, girl-chasing old man.
2.
arousing sexual desire: lascivious photographs.
3.
indicating sexual interest or expressive of lust or lewdness: a lascivious gesture.

From late Middle English, meaning wanton or playful

It sounds good, it means a great thing...what's not to like?

Well, okay I guess when i'm playing a british character my favorite word is bloody hell. I blame Harry Potter movies and Ron Weasley. Bloody HELL

Bloody Hell

British term used to express anger, shock or suprise. Apparently translates into American as 'Dirty Hell'. Fucking yanks.
"His cock was THIS big!" - "Bloody hell!"

"It took me two and a half hours to get home today." - "Bloody hell, why?!" - "Americans run our public transport, that's why." - "Fucking yanks."

"Mommy, the dog crapped in your bed again." - "Oh, bloody hell."

Mmm, I love this one. Throw in 'Lecherous' and 'Licentious' too.

I don't know where the hell I picked this word up but I just love the way Macabre sounds...

Ma·ca·bre

ma·ca·bre [mə kbrə, mə kbr]
adj
horribly gruesome: including gruesome and horrific details of death and decay

[15th century. < French (danse) macabre "dance of death," probably alteration of danse Macabé "dance of the Maccabees"]
