My Favourite Paintings (Not Erotic)

Ophelia, by Madeline Lemaire

Doesn't she just look crazy?

That's a beautifule picture.

and is she crazy? I"m gonna go back to my grade 12 english argument :)
I think the Queen pushed her in the river and killed her. She never went crazy and camited suiside.

Nessus i like the picture of the lady on the couch. Reminds me of a clasical painting.... I forget the name but she had an extra vertabrei in her spine so her back makes a perfect 'S'

what do you mean 'Not Erotic'?

Nessus these are all erotic images. I imagine the seated man in pic 2 is a business associate or something similar and not the husband. Her body language is not exposing and his expression is one of distance and not passion or envy, and there is a possessive quality to the man holding her from behind.

they are all beautiful...and MissVictoria that Ophelia is one of my favourites! Lovely choice.

Ah, the strange S. Dali? His life was so unusual but art is so important.

your first picture of the storm dancers is now my screensaver

yes, they look like they are dancing in a storm - I think it is called 'The Singing Butler' - the poor butler, not only has he to hold the umbrella but he must sing over the sound of the wind and the waves for the couple to dance to:)

Here is another.

Hmmm. Dali was never my thing. His art is supposed to be significant- but to me- it is just... garble. And a lot of his later art really -is- garble. I think, even to himself.

As long as we are posting favorites...

Still Life With a Chess-Board, Lubin Baugin

I adore this. Everything about it. I think it is my second favorite painting, apart from one that I saw in the luevre that had no title plate on it.

I agree, there is so much in it

I dont have any of his work to show, but Ron Elmore is one helluvan artist. He does fantasy art. He does some damn fine work.
