I was just making my favorite salad for dinner and realized I wouldn't want to do without my old glass microwave tray. I use it as a cutting board in the kitchen. It has raised edges so all the water and juice stay on it and don't get on the floor or the counter. I can move it around where ever I want.

I use those little flexible plastic chopping sheets on top of it. When all of the unwanted parts of the vegetables are cut off, I scrape them on to that old microwave tray and I can just dump those cleaned veggies into the bowl or pan using the sheet. I can empty the old microwave tray into the garbage disposal and everything is neat and tidy again.

I use it for a hot pad, I use it to hold all my stuff when I cook at the stove.

It is heat resistant, diswasher safe. Just love that old tray.

What little, unintended, thing makes your life easier in the kitchen?

A Pyrex measuring glass thingie...you know, it's glass and it's got all the measurements to about 2 cups and a little pour spout and a handle.

Cereal, soup-ramen especially...it's a great little number.

Zamdrist I was gonna say my hubby, so.....:D :D :D

as for me, I looooooooooove my silpat.

My favorite kitchen tool is a teflon sheet that kind of looks like waxed paper. You can throw it in any rectangular pan and you've got a non-stick pan. Works great on cookie sheets and is a hell of a lot easier to clean up.

Oooo, yes some good ideas. I like my pyrex measuring cup, too. I'll have to check out the baking sheet.

I also have a kitchen toothbrush. Just for cleaning around the little grooves...why are their so many little grooves in the kitchen that collect all sorts of goo?
