About six years ago, there was a story "My Daughter's Best Friend" posted by the user leeleeliterature. I think it was a three-part series. Lead character was a guy (named Josh?) who couldn't orgasm until he encounters his daughter (Sarah)'s best friend, Tabitha (Tabi). The story was deleted not long afterward, but was later reposted on another website, but then taken down from that one as well. I wish I had saved it when I found it again, but didn't, unfortunately. Now, I'm hoping that someone on this website saved it because I really want to have a copy. It was one of the best stories I've read on here. Please tell me that one of you have it!

That might not be the case. There have been a lot of stories on the site lately that have been removed because of a shift in site policy regarding references to "underage sex." There was one that had been a fixture in the top-10 most viewed and most favorited lists on this site, but it mentioned that this guy had watched his mother and her friends sunbathing nude and had masturbated before he turned 18. It never went into salacious detail or anything like that, it was just character background. Someone reported the story for underage content, and now it's gone. Nothing to do with the author's wishes.

Had Laurel monitored that story more closely when it was submitted, she wouldn't have allowed it anyway. Yes, some under age shit does fall between the cracks at times. It doesn't mean that the owners of Lit actually "allowed" said content.

The story I refer to was published on the site in 2004. It was favorited more than 3000 times and had over 6 million views. It was not removed from the site until earlier this year. And that was just one example. There used to be a lot of stories on the site where a character in a story would mention--just for the sake of example--that his family enjoyed casual nudity his / her whole life and it wasn't a big deal; or that the character's parents had sex frequently and could be heard through the thin walls of the house. Those are details that appeared in a ton of stories over the years, but now it counts as "underage sex."

This is a recent change in site policy and it has resulted in a lot of stories disappearing from the site that had been here for years. It has also made it difficult for a lot of current writers to publish stories that feature realistic character development.

To be clear, I was not bad-mouthing Laurel -- what she does is amazing and there's certainly no way I could handle what she does routinely here. I am just pointing out that there has definitely been a shift in site policy and it has resulted in a lot of long-time favorite stories being removed from the site. Many of those stories were submitted by authors who have not been active on the site for more than a decade. They had left those stories here for all of us to enjoy, and the fact that they have recently been removed had nothing to do with their wishes.

Current writers should know the rules. It's not hard to write within them.

I suspect what is happening is an over all tightening up on policy, with better policing by the site. The age policy hasn't changed, but the tools to find content breaches have probably improved - word scans and so on, scrubbing through the story archives (in addition to stories being reported).

When the site pulls a story down, it will referred back to the writer who can submit an edit. If the author does nothing, the story stays down, but the link will say it's under review. Stories removed from the site without trace are the author's doing.
