Help I just installed an updated (supposedly) video driver, and now I'm stuck in 4 bit mode rather than 16 bit with no option to get the 256 colors or make the font smaller Any ideas? Here are parts of the DXDIAG if that helps. The current mode under Display Memory has changed also:

This is the DXDIAG after I installed the new driver:

From where did you get your new drivers. It appears to my relatively untrained eye that your machine is not recognizing the card properly.

Right click on "My Computer" and choose "Properties"

choose the "Device Manager" tab and expand "Diplay Adapters"

Your card should be listed there. Click on it and click "Properties" This window should say that the adapter exists in all ahrdware configuations, and that the device is working properly. You can click "Update Drivers" and try to re-install the drivers for the card.

OK Stupid question, have you re-booted the machine since you updated the drivers? Windows may need to re-load.

Dunno know if this will help, but worth a try.

hehe Thanks for replying so quickly! I've got it fixed now. Yes, I did reboot it twice after installing, but when I followed the instructions on installing the new driver, it told me to choose the wrong one. When I checked it under the Properties, as you suggested, it didn't have the new one listed. Got that fixed, and I'm back to normal now :)
