Yes, Pavarotti was a god when it came to opera but my favourite soloist for this aria is Placido Domingo. I used to run a Pavarotti fan page in another, now defunct, social network; and I was fortunate enough to see him live some years before he died. He still had the voice that we hear here.
I can think of many less worthy things to do in life than to try to learn this aria. I'll look up the Sarah Brightman version that I'm seeing on Youtube to see if it's worth me joining you in this endeavour.
