Well, there are some dreaded words among guitarists and probably the most dreaded of all is "Use THAT guitar and that guitar only."
Those words are usually said when the band is tired of the guitarist constantly searching for the right sound or when the guitar used sounds so good that the band simply wants to stick with it.
There are plenty of examples: Steve Cropper was told by his fellow MG's to leave his Gibson ES 335 at home and play his Fender Telecaster and only his tele.
And it happened with Geddy Lee who was told by Alex and Neil to play his black Fender Jazz-bass and nothing else.
Well yesterday at rehearsal I got to hear those words myself, everybody in the band went: "You've got the magic combination here, use your amp and effects unit with THAT guitar and only that guitar from now on."
And take a guess which guitar they were referring to?

Apparently my expensive custom guitars and self-made numbers can't cut it compared to this 31 year old Washburn A-5 which came with an old Ibanez Super 70 Humbucker rather crudely put in the bridge position and which was modified to twin 'bucker outlay by me. I bought it two weeks ago for 120 Euro, with the intention of fixing it up and selling it on but now it suddenly rendered my other guitars redundant.
I'm quite baffled by it really.
