The other week I asked suggestion for symbols of "womanhood" as I was doing a piece of my art work for my niece who was turning 14. This is what I came up with: ovaries and the bits between them…

I used hand dyed fabric and couched on metallic thread with bead work and fluffy rayon wool in the centre. All hand stitched. The total stitched area measures: 12 x 6 cm (5 x 2 ½ inches)

I will now print this poem below I wrote onto hand made paper and stitch the paper, below the stitched hand work.

I am fragile but hardy.
I am exquisite but powerful.
I am unhurried but swift.

I am woman
I have all.

Typical. Complete contradiction as usual. And you wonder why we can't keep up? I dunno.... Women, can't live with 'em, can't kill 'em.

Nice art and symbolism though and I'm sure I'd love the poem were I of the opposite gender...

one of my favourite poem is Phenomenal Woman by Maya Angelou. Perhaps you would like to share it with your neice.
Interesting artwork:)

Thank you of being you.
I saw a lot of people trying to make a symbol a Womanity and failed.
You did it.
Thank you again.

I'd settle for one or the other right about now.

The power of womanhood representing everything and anything you want to be at the same time.

T.H. I actually liked the work. It encompasses womanhood, but also shows the sensitivity and texture in the medium. I liked the background; it was like a sea of flames and what entails those a woman's nether regions are like a storm. The lines are subjective, but not so apparent in it is radiating concentric circles of a woman's' ovaries. Perhaps it is the Sapphire & tonic, but it is an inviting piece.

Hey Kiwi Wolf, do my ovaries look familiar? ;) *chuckles*

This lady has some serious skills folks... I am going to order a couple of her books. The work is amazingly intricate which doesn't really show in the photo.

Hey T.H. i would know those ovaries anywhere... ;) Tell J that I am sorting through a pile of books as we speak... I'll try to drop them out in the weekend or early next week. A very cool guy your man.

Great job T.H. I think that you did a wonderful job of distilling the essence of a woman.
I look forward to enjoying future work.
