The other week I asked suggestion for symbols of "womanhood" as I was doing a piece of my art work for my niece who was turning 14. This is what I came up with: ovaries and the bits between them…
I used hand dyed fabric and couched on metallic thread with bead work and fluffy rayon wool in the centre. All hand stitched. The total stitched area measures: 12 x 6 cm (5 x 2 ½ inches)
I will now print this poem below I wrote onto hand made paper and stitch the paper, below the stitched hand work.
I am fragile but hardy.
I am exquisite but powerful.
I am unhurried but swift.
I am woman
I have all.
