I posted the details in the Happy to be Alive II thread, but have got no replies so I thought I'd try a more to the point thread title so people would know what happened.

I've been online a bit these past couple of days, meaning to tell about it- but just not ready. Distracting myself I guess.

Just two days ago- it seems like forever...

Alive

Holy shit! I'm assuming you are ok and have a place to be, since you are online?

How horrible for you.

OMG, Sweets! I'm so glad that YOU are safe.

Thank you LadyJeanne (and all)

I am safe, as are my belongings and my family.

*Everyone* is safe- no one was killed,
and there were, miraculously only 2 injeries. luckily and they will be placing them in available appartments. Everyone was able to find places (friends, vacant apt, or hotel paid for by red cross) so no one ended up in a shelter overnight.

Even the bastard who did it is alive. But that's good, becuase they can question him- and then they can torture- er, I mean prosecute him.

Personally, I think we should classify him as a terrorist and send him to Guantanamo Bay or wereever it is.

Emotionally, it is still difficult though- sadness, fear, anger, compasion- I watched as the building burned and the firefighters worked to put it out. Just being so close to that kind of destruction is very powerful. It feels much different from watching even worse distruction over the news.

Sweetie, I'm so sorry, can't imagine how you're feeling (besides glad to be alive). Write whatever helps, take care.

Perdita

Hugs, Sweets. The feelings of vulnerability will lessen, but a part of your innocence is gone now. You've experienced first hand how quickly, from one breath to the next, people's lives can be irrevocably altered. That's a scary, humbling, moment.

I wish you and your neighbors peace and comfort.

Luck,

Yui

I'm glad you and everyone else made it out okay. It sounds like there was a lot of good luck in that big spot of bad luck. It could have been much worse.

Oh my God, honey, I'm so sorry. I saw "Happy to be alive" but thought it was going to be uplifting or motivating, and those always bring me down. Thank god you're okay.

Shit.

Hugs.

I'd like to console you and say it's gonna be okay, but you'll likely be shaking for awhile and probably always retain a bit of fear.

Glad everyone's safe as that's the most important thing and here's hoping the worthless bloodsuckers that call themselves insurance companies don't try and screw you over as you're recovering.

not too many people around here have renters insurance. But with help from the red cross and neigbors, people will be able to start over. the paper now sais it's 60 people who were displaced, rather than the original 50.

As Boota said- there was a *lot* of good luck involved here, it could have been so much worse.

You guys are all so sweet, you're making me cry again. (But that's ok:))

Glad you are o.k.

Too bad the guy who did it wasn't terribly injured, I am surprised he didn't suffer severe injuries from vigilantes, uh, I mean good samaritans, attempting to help him from his car.

Justice would be counting the number of people in or near that building and charging him with that many counts of attempted murder.

But of course, he is a criminal, and therefore some asshole judge will let him off with 10 days in jail for starting a fire without a permit or something.

Yikes.

Hugs.

I could say more, but everyone else already did. So I'll just add my wishes for everything to work our for the best, for you your family and the rest of the neighbors. :rose:

hugs to you Snp..
i echo Liar.
and ditto the rest of the thread.:rose:

*hugs sweet*

Learn from the good, walk away from the pointless. Remember, the Chinese have the same word for "CRISIS" as they have for "OPPORTUNITY".
