Watching for the sake of knowledge is certainly a valid reason for attending such a gathering. But isn't the concern, or source of anxiety about being there, the very real questions that need to be addressed; namely 1) dressed? and 2) interaction with others?

Male or female, most of us are relative novices to such events and these should be addressed thereby ensuring equal expectations amongst all participants.
