muted seasons

i was reading a poem from Verse Daily this morning and thought it sounded quite odd that a poem about Spring, written by a poet from Oregon, should be posted just as you Northernites have turned the corner into Autumn.

are the seasons muted in magazines now or is this just a one off oddity?
