Like lit forums needs a new thread!

I recently started to reconfirm my interest with D/s. The thing is, life can and does get in the way. The other day, I was attending to one thing, but my thoughts got sidetracked because the 'what if' feeling of uncertainty set in. It could be because I have forgotten what it's like to be in an exclusive relationship.

As the title of the thread suggests, what happens when you just have to get up and go?? Whether it be passing glances or parting is such sweet sorrow, to how do you deal with the issue of separation from your D/s for periods of time? Are you comfortable in your own company?

That kind of thing, nothing too brain-taxing, hopefully. Please keep it light hearted. D/s only. Crops optional. Knee high boots essential.

LHomme I read your poll initially with an open mind to participate though it confused me a little.

When you posed the questions

1. How do you deal with the issue of separation from your D/s for periods of time?
2. Are you comfortable in your own company?

I felt I could answer them , however relating them to the following as a Poll confused me further.

No, I don't understand why L_homme is soo indecisive.

Its clear from your second post that your disappointed people have not participated if I am correct. May I suggest you consider what it was that you really wish to know and reformulate the poll and start afresh. I do not believe your poll was ignored out of elitism on the Board but rather confusion.

As a head start I will answer the two questions I do in fact think I understand.

1. How do you deal with the issue of separation from your D/s for periods of time?

When I first read this I thought you were asking if Dominance and submission could just slip ones mind. I think perhaps now you are asking how one copes when ones partner is away ? My answer is I have never liked to be separated unduly for extended times from my Dominant. The reality is life sometimes dictates that as something to contend with. Staying busy in a least one area that's of benefit to the partnership and reconfirms the well being of both is useful for me. Keeping myself in check that my own reaction to separation does not make things 'worse'. It works both ways. I do not believe my Dominants have enjoyed separation any more than I. Life will dictate these things however.

2. Are you comfortable in your own company?

Yes. Far from perfect and never optimal but the answer remains yes. As you have asked 'Please keep it light hearted I won't wade in any deeper than my simplified answer to this one.........smiles

Well the thread title, a favourite saying of mine, must have confused people but that wasn't the intended effect. However, your response was welcome because it explained your point of view about separation, which for all intents and purposes, is what the thread is about. W/we all miss people W/we would prefer to spend more time with.

I won't be changing the poll questions. Using the same subject as the poll option was in an attempt to inject a little humour and keep it lighthearted. I am an indecisive sort when it comes to things like relationships, so it's just a way of seeing who might stay and post and who really had to dash offline.

Maybe I haven't quite got the hang of this thread malarky yet.

Or maybe some haven't quite got the hang of your malarky yet. Take it from someone who knows... lots of people just don't "get it" regarding humor and sarcasm. And they never will.

But you should keep posting and I'm sure in time, you will endear yourself to many here.

I don't know what the fuck you're talking about most of the time... but then, I'm not the sharpest tack on the floor, waiting to be stepped on and ground into an instep, either.

If refering to D/s as part of who and what I am, I am never seperated from it. I could no more be seperated from my D/s than I could be seperated from my sense of humor, or from my intelligence, or from any other integral part of my personality.

If, on the other hand, you are refering to my D/s partner, I deal with it (seperation) by doing whatever it is that needs to be done.

Yes, quite.
