So, there are lots of game threads on music and recently a thread on classical music (which I still have to go partake of). But, to my knowledge there isn't an all encompassing thread to discuss music, and the affects it has on us. I've been an avid listener of music my whole life. I find they have easier access to my emotions than most sources.
Music can completely change my mood, depending on the situations. If I'm sitting, contemplatively, listening to music and a sad song comes on, chances are it will make me cry. I don't cry easily under usual circumstances, but a song filled with sorrow, in it's notes or lyrics, can hit me right in the feels.
A song like "Was" by Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band, hits me in a completely different manner. This song, to me, is super high energy and makes me want to move. I put it on when I repeat when I've got chores to do around the house.
I've been listening to K.Flay's Blood in the Cut a lot recently, because the beat just puts me in this incredibly high energy yet tranquil state. It's a unique sound to me, the mix of her raspy vocals and the incredible instrumentation.
I've always been very eclectic when it comes to music, I listen to almost any genre, and exclude based on an individual song basis, not an artist or a genre (Except Elivs, not a fan.... long story... but even some of his songs are alright, especially if someone else is singing them
)
So, discuss what songs transform your emotions. Discuss music in general. Share bands with each other, talk about your experiences at their concert. Get people hyped on music.
