I am sure this has been posted somewhere before (possibly even by me).. positive of it, but.. i want to post it again.. ask those of you i have come to know through your posts, etc...

A couple months ago my Mistress was in town and we were to play in my home so i sought about setting the mood by setting out Her toys and Her effects, and choosing the music to which i would be beaten, flogged, figged, etc. What i found was, some music fits perfectly, while other music makes you go.. "um.. this is not setting the mood at all!"

The 300 Soundtrack along with some other Celtic CDs seem to work well with some of the tracks, but i informed my Mistress that i would ask the Community at large... what do You use to set the scene? what do You suggest? i will then take the best suggestions and make a few CDs.

Do you use specific songs from various CDs? entire CDs? I know that sometimes the moods can vary and sometimes it depends on what you want to do... atmosphere may depend highly on the type of scene you plan to do.. a long waxing or mummification may not be the same music as one would use for a long flogging session, etc. I am familiar with Butt Boy Music. It's okay but not great, again, what i have heard is more about the beatings and not variants on scenes.... so....

*bows appreciatively*

There is a classical and opera radio station locally that I use quite a bit. I've got some opera and classical Cd's as well. Nothing inspired there, bust quiet beautiful music. I don't want anything intrusive, and generally don't want anything with words simply because it might distract. The only voices present should be mine and hers, ideally.

Though, oddly enough, we scened at a play party last night (first time) and I found that I was utterly undistracted by the various questions, comments, and such. The music was not what I would've wanted either, but was still good.

Oh, one more thing that MUST be avoided is anything I'm likely to sing along to. When I am concentrating on something (like ropework for instance) I will mindlessly sing along, period. It might be a fun/creep effect with the right music, but it's just jangling to me to realise that I'm quietly singing "Volare" as I tie my gal up and prepare to beat her :D

As a specific suggestion, an done that will probably make the gamer in you happy, I would bet that the score/soundtracks from the various Conan movies would work beautifully. They are excellent discs, and I've been looking for them for a while now.

I mostly listen to metal and hard rock. I have a list of songs that I like to hear during a scene. I don't know if any of these will help you malin, but here they are.

Nine Inch Nails- Closer
Puddle of Mudd- Control
Nickleback- Figured you out
Korn- Freak on a leash
3 Days Grace- Pain
Poison- Talk Dirty to me

Lords of Acid- Rough Sex
Marilyn Manson- Tainted Love
RA- Do you call my name
Disturbed- Down with the Sickness
Kid Rock- I got one for ya
Type O Negative- Love you to death
Disturbed- Mistress

The ones in bold are the ones I have on my MP3 player now..most of them I use for working out at the gym, to keep my mind motivated to keep going.. so I guess I can see where that would be

We havent really used music to scene by.. though I'd have to agree with Homburg though in that I dont think I could use ones with words (even though I love the ones I've bolded here) because I would sing along and forget to keep my attention focused. I had ADHD and it's diffult for me at times to rein in my mind.. ask Malin and Master.. So I would need music that would help me do that. Vivaldi's Four Seasons, the soundtrack from the Piano I could see using...

I talked to Master about this yesterday. His answer was "none... total..sensory..deprivation."...

I purred at the thought

I like anything.. ;) but I love Puddle of Mudd- Control.. Lots of great songs.. but nothing really takes my mind off of whats happening although I want to be able to hear my Sir talking and saying things to me.. ;)

I love System Of A Down - Question , because the tempo changes in such great ways :)

Thanks much :)
it's silly to say but it took me a long time to put all that together.. finding the songs, finding just the right pictures, finding the right quality symbol for the overly.. then finding pics for the inside and doing the song lists...

well, it doesn't seem like a lot but i was glad when i completed it.
that list of songs also makes a great workout set i think LOL

Wow! We have the exact same taste in music.. It looks just like the playlist I like to use. I didn't know if many others liked to listen to hard rock/metal during a scene of not..

It probably would make a good workout set. A bit distracting in some cases, but good motivation. To be a bit specific, it would make a great set for when I trail-ride. I like a little bit more musical distraction.

My lifting playlists are a bit hard, and I look for things that aren't going to pull my attention away from the bar quite as much.

Music centers me... not to the extent that it does Fi... but it drives me on.. the heavy beat forces me to breath right, to push the bar, push myself, and when doing aerobic.. to take each driving step forward

i am glad you all approve :)

Terrific songs, Malin.

As to the music "centering" You, i agree. Once the rhythm gets into me, i am lost to what others are thinking or saying about me; and just so intensely focused on what that rhythm's purpose is for.

Whether it be the rhythm of a slow beat spanking, a fast beat flogging; or just the dance rhythm. At that point, if its Scene related; its just the PYL, myself, and the music. And pardon my French, but to hell with the rest at that point.

Certain types of tempo change-ups, certain styles of lyric, certain tones, all can be distracting when I'm setting to lift. When I'm under the bar, I hear nothing, see nothing, I'm all GO. But the set-up is very important when I'm hitting serious loads.

I have very specific music that I like when going for PR's. Coupla songs by Pantera, one or two by Body Count, and a handful by Rollins Band. My specific song for going balls-out, trying to hit a weight that could wreck me is "Shine" by Rollins Band (most people probably think of it as "Hero Time"). I can feels my adrenals kick in when that song starts. Makes it kinda dangerous when I'm driving and it comes on, but that was the song playing when I did my 500lb rack pull and bent my damned bar. It works :D

I haven't been overly picky about scening music, though I have used CDs of quiet jazz or George Winston piano music. One CD, though, has had an added benefit. I have a compilation of various performances of Pachelbel's Canon that runs for nearly an hour. It's slow but assertive music, so I find that it's good for single-action sessions (such as extended oral service) and has the added benefit of providing random and powerful association-based stimulation when she hears Pachelbel elsewhere. :D

We (Master and I) dont use music to scene by.. music is important to us though .. but Malin's right.. music has a way of centering me. When I'm pissed.. Vivaldi and TSO.. metal music.. goes on..and plays loudly.. until I can find my calm.. when I'm sad.. music comforts me..soothes me..

One of the best things that's happened to me is when Malin bought my iPod. I can organize the playlists how I want.. and pop on a "I'm pissed" list.. or my gym list.. let me tell you..there's nothing like "Let the Bodies hit the floor" to start a workout...

my music tastes are very eclectic... music and water have been my.. my.. center..my soul.. for as long as I can remember...

A and i tend to use music to keep our sounds in as opposed to keeping other sounds out, so we have been known to put on anything from showtunes, top 40, and country (my music) to classic rock, metal, and other random stuff (his music).

I find myself air-flogging to the guitar riffs in the live version of Pushit by Tool off of their Salival CD...
