I've started doing some birth video editing for clients and friends and am looking for some suggestions of music to use in the background. The last video that I did had clips from the song Come On-A My House, This Woman's Work (for the birth itself), and Alright For Now (with the closing photo and credits).

Anybody have any suggestions of other music that might be sweet to use? John Lennon's Beautiful Boy comes to mind immediately, as does (First Time) Ever I Saw Your Face.

Love to hear your suggestoins!

Pacabells Cannon.
Bittersweet symphony, the verve
Pretty Donna Collective Soul

Instrumental: anything by Philip Elcano ... I play him AT births all the time...

Lullabies of the Soul, Birth Chants and Opening to Birth are all good, and can be found here

If my husband had brought a video camera any of the times I gave birth I'd have probably tried to make him eat it. Beethoven's Fifth or the William Tell Overture to drown out the yelling I did.

This Woman's Work (for the birth itself)

I love this Kate Bush song, by the way... it's a great choice...

I forgot about Full
which has a lot of great tempos, so you can use different tracks for different moods...

Yes, This Woman's Work was perfect for the last video I did. I can see myself using it alot.

"Butterfly Kisses"

I can't remember who its by

and I like that Kate Bush song too

In the Hall of the Mountain King - Edvard Grieg
What's Love Got To Do With This - I don't know my 80's trivia
March of the Swivelheads - Ferris Bueller's Day Off Soundtrack
Mission Impossible theme song
But I'm Just a Cheerleader soundtrack
Clockwork Orange soundtrack by Wendy Carlos
Pocket Calculator - Kraftwerk
Radioaktivitat - Kraftwerk
Tour de France soundtrack - Kraftwerk
Rites of Spring - Igor Stravinsky
Two-Part Inventions No. 7 from the Well-Tempered Clavier Suite by J.S. Bach

What about something for the kid, such as the Beatles' birthday song?

The finale to the 1812 Overture might work when the contractions are coming fast and furious.

And then there's Gene Pitney singing, It Hurts To Be In Love."

For what little it's worth, I had a collection of Aaron Copland playing during my last surgery.

Rumple Foreskin

Shouldn't the choice of music depend on the clients taste in music?

Personally, I'd prefer instrumental and/or classical -- the Halleluia Chorus or Also Sprake Zarathustra come to mind for the birth itself, but that's likely to be a bit much for a hardcore Country or Rock fan (and probably absolutely intolerable to a Rap/Hip-Hop fan.)

The sound Track to the Heavy Metal Movie has a lot of possibilities for a heavy metal fan.

Sweet Child o' Mine – G-n-R
When You Say Nothing at All - Alison Krauss
Crazy Babies – Ozzy ;)
Hush, Little Baby - Nina Simone

Hey Ted - Have you ever used Pinnacle Studio? I'm having a bitch of a time getting the audio and the video to sync up when I capture from an analog camcorder...

I have it, but never used it (I have other tools). I use DV not analog, so I can't be much help.

But a quick google lead me here : http://forum.videohelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=166660

Thanks. I seem to have fixed it.
I was working on my computer while I was capturing the video and apparently it slowed down the video transfer rate but not the audio. Seems to be working fine now.

I'll be buying a DV very soon to fix this little glitch because working the analog sucks!
