A question for inquiring minds:

If you didn't do anything illegal then you wouldn't have to even consider trying something like the self-pardon dodge, would you? Conversely, if you have (and know you have) done things that aren't pushing the edge in the gray area but are way the hell and gone over there on the illegal side, you'd try everything, including a self-pardon dodge, to protect your ass, right?
