Several months ago I posted a thread complaining about all of the hoopla surrounding Ali and questioning its appropriateness. Once again there was a show aired about Ali. A documentary was shown on PBS last night called 'Through the Eyes of the World'.

I highly suggest you watch this show if you have any interest about Ali. The show is excellently done and has tremendous historical film footage of his youth, his start as Cassius Clay, his fights, his conversion to Ali and his life after the ring. It lets you the viewer draw your own conclusions for the most part.

There is a book available and there is also a website...

I was it

....and thought it was great. It's easy to forget what a great athlete he was and how he influenced so many people.

Boxing is my fav sport and Ali is one of my fav boxer of all time! I just watched the movie Ali and thought Will Smith did a great job, well deserved oscar nominee.

i grew up with ali as the champ. in my less than humble opinion he was not only one of the most gifted natural athletes to ever compete in the ring he did more for the sport of boxing than nearly any one before and definitely since.

he was loud and brash but he was truly a gentleman and sportsman in and out of the ring. there has never been a better ambassador for the sport unless maybe sugar ray leonard. we used to have huge parties any time he boxed. the last time i even bothered to put anything like that together tyson bit off an ear. classy guy.

he was such a part of my teen and young adult years that when he lit the olympic torch a few years ago i cried and i'll whoop anybody that doesn't like it. :D

I thought the documentary brought this out very well.

I found the behind-his-back reaction of his wives to his religion to be highly amusing.
