MP3 downloads?

I have a friend who signed up for MP3downloadHQ.com and can't see how to get the music downloaded. He paid for it and they claim 40,000 artists' music are there.

I looked and can't see anywhere it says, "Click here to download your songs" or anything like it.

It seems to tell him to go download Kazaa or Grokster or 12 other sharing programs.

Does anyone know of this program/site? Did be get scammed?

I looked to, but it looks a little fishy to me, especially this from the FAQs:

I thought the software was free. Why am I being asked to pay?

He bought a new Ipod type thing and doesn't know anything about how to get tunes for it, so he got this.

Thanks for the info. I thought it was only info from what I saw there. And the only tunes I found, after much searching, were ones no one had ever heard of!
I suggested he try to get his money back and learn Kazaa lite or get a real pay service. There was a good one suggested here a while back, but I didn't save the addr.

I've had really good luck with Limewire. http://www.apple.com/itunes/ has songs for $0.99 and I noticed Walmart.com has songs for $0.88 each.

This really pisses me off bigtime.

First off your friend got ripped off. (shrug) Mostly likely he'll not get his money back, but thats what happens when you deal with thieves.

Unless an artist specifically puts a song into the public domain (and some have), 99.99% of the songs out there are stolen from the artist and the recording company. Personally I don't give a rats ass about the record companies, but as a holder of copyrighted software, any eroding of music/movie copyrights is an eroding of my copyrights. My copyrights are the only protection provided for independant software authors like myself. And I can't tell you how disheartening it is to see six months of your life sitting on a pirate ftp site, knowing full well that the thousand copies you might have sold just vanished into thin air.

Please, do your friend an ernormous favor and point him to itunes.com or walmart.com for downloading music. The cost is very reasonable. A buck a song. That really isn't going to break anyone. Download Legal or be a thief. Its that simple and that cut and dried.
