I released a story over a year ago. Recently it, along with several of my other older stories, have been getting traction. I went back and read the story again which raised a question in my mind. The story is published in T/CD because, well, the MC transitions. The issue I'm seeing with new eyes is that the entire transformation is very forced and non con. The entire world she lives in while being retrained is one of BDSM.

Can I even republish at this late date with no text changes and just a new category. Is it worth it.? I kind of think so or I wouldn't be considering it. I seriously have no goal other that getting the story to it's proper home and proper audience.

Thanks in advance for the feedback.

You could resubmit, via edit, to a different category. It would be up to Laurel, the selection editor, to decide whether to change the category and to give you another bite of the apple with the readers. If you do and it works, you might post that it did to give other writers guidance on that point.

From the FAQ:
If you need to change the Title, Category, or Description of your published story, please follow the instructions found in the FAQ question titled I’ve edited my story and want to replace the published version with a new edit. How do I do that? Let us know what changes you are making to the story (Title, Category, or Description) in the Author’s Note field on the submission page before submitting the edit.
So, just makes the changes, explain why, and cross your fingers. I would hazard a guess that it's not going to post on the "New" page of the category hub, however, given that it's an edit and not a new story.

What, you want me to read the instructions? What kind of demon are you? ;)
Thanks.

Demons are chaotic. By making you read the instructions, I've outed myself as lawful, and ergo I am clearly a devil. A particularly stuffy and pedantic one.
Demons are also clever and manipulative. By urging me to do something so out of character, you have introduced a heightened level of chaos into my life, thus satisfying your chaotic urges vicariously. Not convinced.

I’ve changed categories - before I understood how they work - it went through fine, but the work didn’t get to appear on the New Page.

If you really want that. Then re-write the work more substantially, enough to make it arguably a newish story, then submit as new to the desired category. Add a note explaining that the new story is a reworking of an old one and what is different.

All four of my “Redux” stories went through the second process. I eventually asked Laurel to delete their precursors.

Not going to rewrite. Just want it to be in the right place for unsuspecting passersby.

That's interesting. The time I changed the category and title, it went on the new page. Maybe because I had a sequel that I posted at the same time? They both hit the New page the same day.

I added a comment because people were asking how a new story already had a bunch of views and comments.

I guess it’s not an exact science.

Concern over this is kind of why I'm asking. Don't want to be seen as trolling for clicks.
