The following completely unrealistic, but highly intriguing idea came to me recently:

We have three huge movie stars (two female, one male, all fictional) who are adored by critics and audiences alike, have uncountable numbers of awards, and have each starred in over a half-dozen blockbusters.

With this level of success, it's no suprise that they decide to make a vanity project. What is a suprise is the nature of said project:

They want to make a hard-core porn flick.

Not a completely outlandish premise, given the recent example of '9 Songs' by director Michael Winterbottom.

I'd have to think that there isn't really a need for the main characters to be fictional, since I think a great deal of interest and speculation can be made over exactly what real world actors and actresses would be suited to such a story scenario.

Don't forget Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman came pretty close to doing a porn movie. Eyes Wide Shut, I've never watched it, those two nude makes me curl into a ball and scream for my mother.

I have heard what people have said about it and seen some of the trailers. It is more or less one of those late night showtime movies with big name stars and director. A full on porn movie by some really famous people is not all that far off, I mean look at how many celebrity sex tapes are appearing. Those are about two cameramen, a sound guy, a lighting guy and a screaming director away from being a porn movie.

I sort of liked Eyes Wide Shut, I thought the storyline was good. Clearly Eyes Wide Shut was no where near a pornography movie. I think that in a few years (Maybe 10 or 20) we might see a few actors or actresses appear in mainstream movies, and even win awards that come from the pornography side of the movie making business. I am also still waiting for a porno that cost 50+ million to make. God knows some porno studios make enough money to front a giant vanity project like that.

'Eyes wide shut' was great till the end, that cult scene....grrrr turn off for me.

Personally, i think in 20 years we will not have real actors/actresses - every movie will be created via computer.

Well I for one will never watch porn done with computer models, and I'm certainly not the only one. We don't have flying cars, and we won't have only CG movies in 20 years either.

not sure, we just might. i've seen some of the new tech stuf and its pretty good. i think in 10-15 years one will not be able to tell the difference. just look how far cgi has come from star wars

There's an easy way to tell; look at the credits, or just research the actors and see if they exist in the real world. It's not about the technology not being realistic, it's about not being turned on by fake stuff.

I keep hearing these prudish types who don't watch porn talking on tv and such about how in the future women won't have to have to do the degrading act of having sex because they will be replaced on screen by CG stuff.

What!? I'm sorry, but who decided sex was degrading!? And so it's degrading for women but not for men? I take offence to all this.

When I watch porn it's so I can watch two real people having sex, not so I can watch two realistic dolls doing it.

hum...would tarra patrick or Dita qualify? they jump back and forth from r and x....and tarra's husband has been in a few r rated movies.

sure the credits would tell....but when some actors are earning 20 million per movie...btw what does it cost to go to the theater these days? I understand your point and was not taking anything away from it... all i was thinking was that some bean counter will say that its too expensive to use real poeple and some movies will have cgi instead of real people. personally, i'm with you on this, i want real people and the real actor not a fill in....

now, granted most poeple watch porn via dvd or cabel or sat system at home in his or her familyroom so for x rated movies people will not go to the theater. are there any x rated theaters any more? I remember there was a few in CA but that was ten years ago ( :(( feeling old ).

so i think that some movies will be cgi and some movies will have real actors.

degrading, guess one can blame that on religion (don't some religions still belive that women are not allowed to enjoy sex?)! lets face it, men are visual and in fantasy so are women (we have our dream men that we masturbate too).

Generally i think we see more nudity and sex scenes in films these days so there might not be a reason why it can't be real actors or actresses. Most seem to do it to varying degrees in a lot of main stream films that come out in the theatres.

That just tickles my interest a bit, a fictional, clearly fictional story about actresses such as Pamela Anderson in a porn movie...

its interesting, some french and spanish movies show oral sex. i think that the movies are r rated.

Something like half the late night movies have actual sex on camera. They don't say names of course but the crew gets a grin when you ask them. ;)

I remember there was one, Blonde Bimbos on Dinosaur Island I think was the name where about halfway through the sex scene she or he would get up to change positions and they cut to them in the new position. They also get in your standard porn movie positions.

Granted those late night movies are very not for mainstream actors and actresses, they are however about three sex scenes to many and half a script shy of the next blockbuster.

I for one actually can't wait til some decent directors and actors try their hand at porn.

I know it can be argued it's not really the point, but a porno where the setup and acting was actually believable and non-ridiculous and was filmed with some thought put into the shots, angles, lighting etc would be an amazing thing.

Has anyone read Terry Southern's novel Blue Movie, published in 1970? It's about a Hollywood producer who decides to make a porn movie with top production values, big budget, and big stars. Very funny.

Relic or Classic

Then there's always Marlon Brando in the venerable porn-noir title, Last Tango in Paris, controversial when first released but pretty banal by contemporary standards.
