Moutain Cabin Getaway (Closed for me and LittleGary)
It was a beautiful fall morning, just after the crack of dawn. The street wasn’t busy yet due to the early hour and the streetlights had just extinguished. This time of year was Karen’s most favorite. The smell of the crisp air, fallen leaves and grass covered in dew made her smile. There was barely a breeze and the warmth of the sun was not yet felt. It was her job to pack the car and get things ready for the drive. They had hoped to get out of town without being noticed. Josh was in the house preparing things for their departure. He was such the worrywart, locks were triple-checked and timers were set in strategic rooms of the house. This ritual always made her crazy, but she loved him dearly. The best place for her was outside in the driveway completing her tasks. Everything in their life seemed to have a plan.
Karen was so glad she had suggested getting a cabin in the mountains. She was equally as glad that Josh was receptive to the idea. That sort of thing doesn’t always happen. Karen was a fun loving, adventurous woman and Josh was more reserved. She hated to call him boring because he could really have fun if he let himself go. She was hoping that going to the cabin with no one around would help him do just that. Their life had become somewhat mundane in recent months and she wanted to shake thinks up a bit. Her plan was to spend the needed time alone together and rekindle the passion they once felt for one another some 7 years ago.
The information Karen got about the cabin made it sound perfect. She rented it from a private owner, a friend of a friend. It was very isolated. There was an area near the cabin where they could go for hikes and exploring. She made sure to pack plenty of food and beverages because her plan was to never leave their hideaway. At night there would be a fireplace and plenty of blankets. She was getting excited just thinking about it. She figured it would take about 3 hours to get there.
