Mother's Day

A holiday I no longer have a need for. Whether that is good or bad is always up for grabs. :(

Mine's still alert and kicking at 85. Got two grass-fed prime ribs in the freezer that I'll start defrosting Saturday night for the BBQ to feed the crowd.

Ditto.
My kids could just as well skip it for all the enthusiasm they show.

Call me a sentimental fool, but it seems that since I have had kids of my own, I realized that my Herculean (or should I call them Xena-ean) expectations of Motherhood were unrealistic and unfair.

For the longest time, I swore I would not have kids. Ha! Still trying to figure out what the hell happened. My kids are young. Their idea of a good Mother’s Day is my taking them to Busch Gardens. They will never know that my idea would be a private performance by the Chippendales! (although my oldest probably suspects as much)

TxRad – I sure did not mean to bring about melancholy feelings.

Slyc, sweetheart, all you have to do is flirt with all us old 30- and 40-somethings, you will make a ton of tips, hopefully that will help ease the pain.:rose:

Cerise - bless your heart. One of these days, I hope to have a daughter-in-law like you!

I do that anyway. (Besides, I'm one of the 30-somethings myself ;) )

I don't dread the day itself, just the fact that a good proportion of those who dine out on Mother's Day only do so a few times during the year, and are fairly ignorant as to how a restaurant operates -- especially on the busiest day of the year.

*sigh* Oh, well. At least I know that a five-hour shift is good for $150. :D

 Thanks.
Honestly, I might not always have appreciated things right when she did them, but I wouldn't be the person I am if she (and my dad) hadn't been there to raise me properly.
