I don't know about you, but I'm always looking for new gifts. A friend got this for her mom for Valentine's Day, and I think I'm going to do it for Mother's Day...

Shari's Berries

i've got an easy mom to buy for...she's always messin' around in the yard so last year i got her one of those two wheeled carts that has room for your tools...the year before a lawn mower...this year buffalo grass seed and the labor to plant it...

The berries look delish

I'm leaning towards a multi-speed, hot-pink vibrator for dear old mum this year. She seems like she needs to smile more. :D

bought the wife a raffle ticket for a Harley.:D Last year she got a boat.

Ruby...

How does a guy pick out a good spa? Really, I like the spa idea, but how do you find the 'right' one? I don't know anyone who ever goes to one.

Erosman, do a search on the internet for your area. Most decent spas have web pages now.

Where do you live? I'll see if I can help you.

I can smell a good spa from 50 miles away. ;)

my mom, who truly IS the best mom in the world (so all your mom's can quit trying for that one), has never had a manicure. So that'll be easy. She's always got her face in a book, so that's another easy one. I'll take her out to brunch, and then we can just hang out and do whatever she wants to do.

You know. There is NOTHING like a mother's love.

Man, not too long ago I cried like a baby. I went to my parents' house and my mom was lying on the couch. I got on my knees, put my head on her belly and I cried.

I am 39 years old.

That woman is something special, if you ask me. :)

Here are a couple of references, Erosman.

What I look for in a day spa:

Well-appointed, luxurious surroundings. The women's lounge area should be fully stocked with essential grooming needs. There should be a separate jacuzzi for women only in this area. It's nice to take a spa before a massage and you don't want to have to put a bathing suit on and go to a co-ed area.

A nice, quiet area to wait for your appointments. There should be water, tea and fresh fruit available.

Salon services. It's really nice to end your spa day with a hair cut and manicure/pedicure so that you look as good as you feel.

Treatment rooms should be pleasing to the eye, dimly lit and warm. There is nothing worse than going into a sterile, cold, florescent-lit room and trying to relax for a massage.

Lunch service of some sort. It's very nice when you can have lunch in your robe between services.

Be careful of salons mascarading as spas. Some nice salons truly are also a day spa, but many have just tacked on a couple of small rooms and hired a massage therapist.

The best spas were built as spas.
