Mothering Sunday

That was sneaky, getting in the day before.

And the same to you.

I'm in shock, my eldest, who rarely even remembers the day, called this evening to arrange for the 4 of us to go out for lunch tomorrow. Ye gods! Wonders will never cease. Also got a card in the post from Mat Jr........I admit, I opened it, and it made me laugh out loud.

Picture on the front, two guys in a sailing dinghy, with a huge wave, twice the height of their yacht about to break over them. The speach balloon says 'SH*T'. The legend underneath says: He was a keen yachtsman and knew all the appropriate nautical terms.

Inside the card was blank for own message, and he had written: Mum, Mother's day cards are over-whelmingly rubbish. This one's funny. I trust you agree I made the right choice! Have a lovely day, Love Mat.

I love my boys, they understand me so well.

I hope all the other mums have an equally great day.

What is Mothering Sunday? I've heard of Mothers' Day, but not this one. I love mothers too, especially MILF's. :nana:

Being a Dad is good too - you get invited along with the missis... ;)

Unlike the Mother's Day celebrated in the US (and elsewhere), this isn't a fixed date, but is always 3 weeks before Easter Sunday (which this year is about as early as it can possibly be).

Mothers' Day:heart: isn't really a fixed date either. It's the second Sunday in May, which would be as early as the 8th and as late as the 14th. That's not as much fluctuation, but it's still not fixed.

In my insanity I was just scared shit less because I seriously thought I had forgotten when mother's day was. :eek:

Happy mothers day! :kiss:

I just got a lovely handmade card with a flower on it (with a picture of boo in the centre) and a lovely card bought from the shops, too AND a new handbag...awww, she's a sweetie.

I've bakede biscuits for my mum and I've bought her a kettle...not terribly cute but she does need a new one :D

My mum is 180 miles away, but I know she's going to my sister's for lunch. I actually found a shop that will be delivering today - Sunday - unheard of, and am having some special balloons delivered. I know for a fact she gets sick of all the flowers (she has 4 kids, one in USA, me, and two who live in the same town, plus I don't know how many grand-kids and great-grand-kids.) She says she doesn't know what all the fuss is about, but you can bet your bottom dollare that if any of us forgot......

Which is actually what I tell mine. It doesn't bother me if they forget, but then, so far , they haven't. In the early years, it made me grin when daddy took them shopping to get something for mummy's day, and I would end up with something for the garden - his domain, not mine. But, it's the thought that counts.

I'm off to the gym this morning - I missed Friday's session, I was far too tired - then back here to shower, before meeting eldest in town for lunch. I'm still in shock.

Good heavens, I never realised how far the two days in Britain and USA had come from their origins. They bear no resemblance to how their instigators intended them.

I wonder just how many people, in either country, are fully aware of how the days started out. My knowledge of the British one, only went back as far as the servents being given the day off to visit their mothers - with the inevitable church service, after all, it was[ a Sunday !! But the rest of it, what an eye opener.

:kiss::heart::rose: to all the moms.

I made sure when we were out a few weeks ago to remember to buy a mothers day card for my mom in the states for may.

Last year hubby had to use mine because he forgot to get his mom one and i made one for mine. This year I banned him from using my card. 3 times he went out this week for mothers day stuff and he gets home yesterday and realizes he has to go back again because he still hadn't bought his card!:eek::D lmao

when we were in the states we bought his moms card in may and then hoped we'd remember where we put it the following march/april:eek:

Happy Mother's Day to everyone on that side of the pond...

:rose::kiss::rose:
