I don't plagiarize.

But watching certain movies and books put me in a 'mood' to do erotica. I might watch 'Brokeback mountain' for instance, and feel like doing a forbidden-love story. Or I might watch V for Vendetta, and feel like gettin' my dystopia on.

So what movie or novel was most inspiring for one of your pieces of work? I doubt I'm the only one who gets ideas from hollywood.

For example, the novel 'The wind-up girl' http://www.google.com/products/cata...T5LhCIGsgwe0qviLDw&ved=0CEsQ8wIwAg#ps-sellers was pretty inspiring for my three-part gay male series, 'The Bottom Tier'

Any others?

I think it's hormonal swings that put me in the mood to write erotica. If I'm not horny I don't feel like writing. And I can't think of any novel or film that has given me a plot bunny. Of course, I don't read all that much fiction and am definitely a non-cinematiste.

I watch lots of movies, but I'd say my ideas tend to come from songs. I've had a few stories that came to mind b/c I was reading something and thought, "Well, what if X happened instead?" or "What if he/she reacted differently to Y?" Sometimes I just get a random idea and it just waits until another idea hits to complement it. But I can't say movies have inspired a story, or put me in a mood for one. Sometimes writing a story will put me in a mood for watching a movie, though. :)

Hormones definitely help. Most of my ideas come from my dreams, but I do find that those dreams are better when my hormones are up.

I can't say my writings have been influenced by any single film or novel, however historical events, songs, life experiences and general observations of day to day events have at various times generated story ideas.

I have been inspired (mostly to draw) by many many things, like PennLady, songs are often a catalyst.

One of my favs (song and a pretty literal illustration) is "night moves" by Bob Seger.

I also included a bit of the lyrics...in one of my few stories.

Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (The book before it was a movie) inspired me to develop a female character that had a dark past which included being gang raped at the age of fourteen and the subsequent horrific revenge she took on them with the help of her foster mother four years later.

Actually posted it on lit and it got reported six months later, oh well.

I've always had a thing for revenge stories and Lisbeth's really took hold of me. I went to see the recent film and have to say the rape scene was brutal and a little hard to take, but I found myself almost smiling because I knew what she was going to do to him.

Lex Talionis.

Watch the swedish versions. I really enjoyed them, and though I haven't seen the American version, I have heard that the swedish versions are better.

I have a story going about a boy from an extremely poor family (no parents) Who goes into prostitution to support his family. He has five siblings, two older, and his oldest brother is in jail for killing their stepfather. The oldest brother killed the stepfather because the stepfather raped the main character after their mother was diagnosed with cancer.

I'm trying to show the dark side of it. Too many times on this site, prostitution is just looked at the wrong way.

the "wrong way"? You mean unrealistically?
I suspect that is because most readers (and probably writers) here prefer an escape from reality> fantasy. I'm guessing.

Read SWB chapter 38 for the true side of prostitution especially drug related.

Can you find better written? Without a doubt, can yo9u find more depressing?

I dare you.

Better then most.

I'm focusing less on the drug and physical abuse. More on the mental anguish.

Also, I had to skim most of your story. Incest really squicks me.

My sci fi ideas have been inspired by a rather obscure writer, Jo Clayton, and most especially by her even-more-obscure-than-usual trilogy "Skeen"

I picked up one of them because the face on the cover was so obviously Jamie Lee Curtis and sure enough the MC is awesome and flawed and butch and in no way a Mary Sue. *sigh of happiness*

Any Sci Fi i write exists within that universe, at least in my mind.

My new character was inspired by a passing comment from a discussion about a web comic titled ""homestuck"

Damn you skim quick!

Thanks for the compliment.

And there was no sex until the end, this one was low on incest and high on depression. Except for the fight scene.
