Theodore Roosevelt.

He used to box with people in the basement of the white house. Also, he was shot in the abdomen during an assassination attempt, but he refused medical treatment and gave a one-hour speech in the freezing cold before going to the hospital.

TR was a mans man.

A one term prez.

Nope. He was only elected for one term, but he served two. He was the vice president when McKinley was assassinated. In fact, he unsuccessfully ran for a third term in the 1912 election because he was dissatisfied with his hand-picked successor, William Howard Taft.

So, he was elected to prex for one term......

You said "one term prez", which was not correct; he served two. If you had said "elected one term", you'd have been right. He willfully stepped down in 1909. His approval was very high, so he could have won had he decided to run that year. He came close to beating Wilson in 1912, despite running as a third party.

While president, TR demonstrated a bit of impromptu bayonet prowess in the White House in front of some European minster of some sort to show that the proposed retractable spike bayonet proposed for the then-new Springfield 1903 wasn't the equal of the knife-type on the Krag. Apparently, the visiting minister was quite impressed.

I read that somewhere, years ago.

Nothing in his life compared to what Washington went through during the Revolutionary War.

Plus he was one of the leading Progs (Fabians for our Euro-crowd)...

He was a judo player.

One of my favorite movies depicts TR at his finest, "The Wind And The lion". Brian Keith does a surpurb job of playing TR.

George was a hemi kind of guy.

TR was more a big-block stoker kit sort.

Teddy was the kind of guy to take my horse and send it to poor pilgrims in KANSAS to pull their wagon...

:(

I hear that people in the nations shun the $20 because The Great Oppressor's picture is on it.

Teddy made some 9 out of 10 and not questioning the tenth crack, too, as I recall.

The $20 is just as welcome at the Turtle Stop Casino as the $5 or the $1...

Not a single president has ever returned what was taken.

I've got some interesting stories about his western hunting trips and his poor eyesight. His politics are irrelevant to the man as a whole - he had impressive visions and the wherewithal to make the most of them.

Sorry.

I do not think his first small step for Federal Tyranny was one giant leap for mankind...

He was not made of the right stuff; he was made of the Wright stuff.

Abe Lincoln was a progressive also. So was George Washington. So was Ronald Reagan and Richard Nixon.

Their entire life does not become invalid because you don't like something in their politics.
