I've just been watching part of the top 50 most annoying songs and sadly I liked most of them :p

However, my most hated song was in today's batch. I find it to be the most annoying pile of un-tuneful tosh ever.

Saturday Night - Whigfield

What is your most abhorred song, pop or other? And to make this writerly, can you write a short piece of fiction including or based on that hated song's lyrics?

And an even bigger challenge -make it sexy!

I'm gonna give it a go, but I don't promise anything. I *shudder* hate that song.

Oh....

I thought this was going to be a poll about "shouting" in green font vs. "shouting" names instead of using the quote function.

Behave, Bel. :p

(I saw you, you're just trying to get a spanking form Stella, are't you? :p )

What if I don't want to behave? *pout* (and having now met her... yeah, I would like just about anything from Stella)

as for songs... most of the ones I think of as annoying are also ones that I might like depending on when and where I hear them. As Imp said in my ear, "depends on my mood..."

There is a version of "cotton-eyed Joe" they play at the ballpark during the scoreboard "hat shuffle" game that I would gladly banish forever...

Are you sure Imp was talking about music? ;) She might've been talking about the spankings.

As for annoying... My life would be infinitely more pleasant if I never had to hear the opening song from Teletubbies again.

The three ice cream trucks per day plus the heard of screaming chihuahuas...It's a symphony from heck. ;)
Bel... :catroar:

Where did you come from, where did you go...

Ahhh, Hugh. I got to touch him during that dance, wonderful memories. (we linked arms, I know, but it was quite something for me back then *LOL*)

Uh oh! I'm so glad my daughter's teletubby phase was very short!

Screaming Chihuahuas?

The mind boggles.

I love "cotton-eyed joe" - but then, I know the dance that goes with it. :D

Most annoying song?

I've always been disturbed and annoyed by Wierd Al songs. I just cringe when I hear them because they're just... enh.

Fuckin hate'em

Don'tworry, Be happy

Shaggy -Wasn't me.

I'm in agreement with you there! And it's so irritating too, because he's a good musician. If he put his pop sensibilities into something original...

Yep, screaming. None of them are actually pedigreed, it's just that chihuahuas are the default dog around here, so all the mutts are less than a foot high. And they get out, from yrads all over the street, slip right through.

I called the cops Sunday, six times. Of course the little fuckers were ranging in yards instead of terrorising old ladies on the street, each time the cops came by. GRR!

I like most of those too - although You're Beautiful tends to get up my nose.

At the moment the only thing I can think of that is guaranteed to make me turn off the radio is that crap song by Mika. And the bloody kids love it!

My only objection to it is that he must have brain-farted when he wrote the lyrics.

She smiled at me on the subway.
She was with another man.
But I won't lose no sleep on that,
'Cause I've got a plan.

You're beautiful. You're beautiful.
You're beautiful, it's true.
I saw your face in a crowded place,
And I don't know what to do,

Make up your mind, Fluffy.

I have but one word for you young people to consider when coming up with a ranking of annoying songs:

No, disco isn't annoying - it's so awful it's funny.

While I believe myself to be a pretty tolerant fellow..(Wellll I prefer ruggedly handsome fellow) AND think choosing "annoying" pop music is kind of like opinions on the quality of Chinese restaurants; which is to say, a matter of taste......

There is one song which so offends my poetic soul that I driven into uncontrollable rage frequently accompanied spittlle flying spasms whenever I hear this classic from those Masters of Lyricism.... Hall and Oates...
and I quote:

"When they insist on knowing my bliss
I tell them this
When they want to know what the reason is
I only smile when I lie, then I tell them why

CHORUS:
(Because your kiss) your kiss is on my list
(Because your kiss) your kiss is on my list
Because your kiss is on my list of the best things in life
(Because your kiss) your kiss is on my list
(Because your kiss) your kiss I can't resist
Because your kiss is what I miss when I turn out the light"

AGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

Sorry..... it will take me a few minutes to recover from even reading the words...

Written by a very intelligent songwriter, who didn't bother to dumb anything down.

How about the song "Synchronicity" --pretty brutal....

Stalker ballad, you say?

-----------

I've been hanging around
Just in case you fall in love with me
I know you have doubts
I hear when you shout
Cos I understand you see

I was concerned when you said
You'd rather wake up dead
Than spend a day with me
I know that's not you
I know and it's true
They don't understand you like I do

I've been hanging around
Just in case you fall in love with me
I know you have doubts
I hear when you shout
Cos I understand you see

I've seen misery
And have a strange empathy
With the woman who kidnaps her lover
This love ain't a dream
I know it's obscene
The calls that I left for your mother

I've been hanging around
Just in case you fall in love with me
I know you have doubts
I hear when you shout
Cos I understand you see

Just tell me that you love me...

Songs that set my teeth on edge:

'Feelings'

'That's What Friends Are For'

'Achy Breaky Heart'

'SukiYaki'

'I'd Like To Teach The World To Sing'

'Una Paloma Blanca'

I'd think of more, but I'm gettin' nauseous. :(
