The U.S. had named the mission to counter terrorism stemming from the recent bombing of the WTC, " Infinite Justice". Apparently, Moslems believe that only Allah can dispense infinite justice and on that basis they have asked that the name be changed to something else. (My suggestion is that the mission be called "Peace on Earth", since that is its ultimate objective, but I am more interested in substance than form).

Just how politically correct do you have to be when you go to war against your sworn enemies? I bet that Mr. Bin Laden didn't worry about a name before he launched his mission of death and destruction against the world.

Who gives a crap? I think hijacking American planes and intentionally crashing them into the WTC and The Pentagon is offensive.

How about:
"Operation Bomb Them Back to the Dark Ages"
"Operation Shove a Patriot Missle Up Your Ass"
"Operation You Want To Meet Allah? Let Us Help."
"Operation Stick Your Head Between Your Legs and Kiss Your Ass Goodbye"
"Operation You're Fucked Worse Than a Virgin at a Gangbang"

Sure "Infinite Justice" is a stupid name. But who gives a fuck? It's just a name. "A rose by any other name would still smell as sweet."

How do you say "Die, Asshole" in Arabic?

we dont want a war of the west against arabs

we want a war with the whole world against terroism including arabs

its not about being politically correct its about using brain power ... mentioning the crusede and calling the operation this is very stupid from bush's speech he seems to have learned his lesson and that is good ... last thing we'd want his every arab teaching there kids to be terroists to fight against the evil american empire ... would never win that way ... need to be precise and pick out the terroists carefully without inciting the rest of the arab world

What don't you like, CB? That we're pissed off? DAMN RIGHT WE ARE!!!! We have taken this crap for TOO LONG! Now the world will learn a lesson they should have been taught a long time ago - DON'T FUCK WITH AMERICA.

It's not just the WTC and Pentagon attacks. It's the USS Cole. It's bombing our embassies in Africa. (Tanzania and Kenya?). It's Pan Am 107. It's the Marines in Lebanon.

We are tired of terrorism and if the nations that harbor terrorists don't change their tune and stop protecting their cowardly asses then let them be warned now. You have pissed us off one time too many. You will be wiped off the face of the Earth. The innocent citizens of these countries are warned. Get out now or you might get caught in the hellfire. Sound cruel and callous? I DONT GIVE A FUCK. You are warned. It's more than those INNOCENT PEOPLE in the WTC and Pentagon had. How about those passengers who could do nothing but watch their planes crash into those buildings. Think THEY had a chance to leave? Think they were warned? Oh by the way, dont get on this plane because if you do, you'll die? NO. They were murdered in cold blood.

You are warned. Get out or die. This is war. We didn't start it, but by God, we WILL finish it.

And if this pisses you off, I am beyond giving a crap. They attacked my country. They attacked my city. They attacked my freedom. Fuck them all.

Rewrite!!!!

Who thinks up these names, a Hollywood scriptwriter? Why do they think the name has to reflect the character of the campaign? Shouldn't it be designed to confuse the enemy as to your true purpose. Hollywood, everything is Hollywood!

pokerman that was a very foolish post im sorry because i like you but you cant go around posting like that on a worldwide board and expect people not to say something

who attacked your country ... who killed americans ... (and english people and Muslim people i might add) if it was a christian person that did this would you kill all christians or if it was a black person would you be calling for all blacks to be killed im sorry you obviously feel strongly about this ... but people that are beating up american muslim or english muslims in england feel strongly about it too and i hope you dont think they are right

Sorry sexy-girl.....but I (and many of my bretheren) am pissed off...and CelestialBody saying that she doesn't like the campaign (or the name) or what she's hearing about America.....just pushed my buttons.

I don't want all Arabs dead. Or all Afghans. And no, i do not advocate attacking people in England or America or anywhere because of their heritage. That is wrong. But that's not my point.

We will not stand for our innocent citizens being murdered anymore.
You should see what's being written in the newspapers here:

**********
From The NY Post 9/13/01

America digs its deads and wounded from smoldering rubble in Lower Manhattan and in Washington.
Osama bin Laden exults in the Afghan desert.
Mobs cheer in Cairo and on the West Bank, and Saddam doubtless dances a victory jig in Baghdad.
America bleeds.
This is war.
It needs to be prosecuted as such.
The men behind the men who rained havoc on New York and Washington need to be called to account.
The heavens need to fall on their heads.
They need to bleed.
Not next month. Not next week.
Now.
Who are they? Who cares?
Cast a wide enough net, and you'll catch the fish that need catching.
And it is inconceivable that American military intelligence - working with allies like Britian and Israel - don't know where the big fish run.
So locate them.
Pinpoint them.
Bomb them.
And then bomb their smoldering rubble - one more time.
America has the means.
It has aircraft carriers and Tomahawk missles -weaponry capable of delivering high explosives to small targets.
It has long range bombers of the sort that brought aerial war to the former Yugoslavia all the way from America's heartland. They stand ready for further action.
All that's missing is the call to arms.
"This shall not stand," said President Bush - and three cheers to him.
Now it's time for him to stamp Tuesday's butcher's bill "Paid in Full".
Now it's time to make this nation's enemies understand in their soul that what happened in New York City and Washington is intolerable.
The weight of America's military might - just short of nuclear oblivion - needs to be visited on those who planned and executed Thursday's attacks.
And also on those who support the terror - benighted souls that they are.
America needs to strike hard - and as often as it takes to impose peace.
But if peace doesn't take, then America needs to do it again.
Until its enemies finally get it.
They believe that they are on a fast track to Heaven. Which is fine.
Dispatch enough of them on the journey with no return, and this war will end quickly enough.
Bombs away.

Granted the Post is a right-leaning conservative newspaper, but this is the gist of what almost all newspapers have been writing in the last 10 days.

We are angry. We are tired. And we are at war. It might not be a conventional war, but it is war nonetheless.....

i agree that should catch the people that did it ... my girlfriends in new york so i hear alot about what people are feeling and what shes feeling ... and me worrying about her

but america shouldnt insult or incite the rest of the arab world that wish to be on america's side calling it "god's justice" and saying its a "crusade" (where christens raped and murdered women and children) is very wrong ... it will push away arab countrys ... america made some mistakes in the past a group of arab nations came to american to warn them that there was growing terrorism and growing ill feeling towards america because of its policy's ... america ignored them ... now america is asking for help from these arab countrys and they are giving the help ... but lets not push our luck by insulting them too

the arab countrys wish to combat terrorism just as much as america does ... america needs to adapt and be brave and be smart its not just as simply as being angry and wanting revenge

i do think bush is learning i think hes trying to be more careful he mentioned in his speech about how the terrorists are blasmaphy against allah and thats very true and i think it was smart for him to say this

I'm an American citizen-passport holding, flag flying, apple pie eating, voting citizen. I am not a part of your we. You just disenfranchised a good portion of America. Your "we" is what brought about the "Committof UnAmerican Affairs" and other well loved institutions. When you speak -recognize that you are stating your beliefs, the rest of America does not necessarily agree with you.

Ok, I'm confused. Here are the times I said "we"

I said:

"We will not stand for our innocent citizens being murdered anymore. " You will?
"We have taken this crap for TOO LONG!" You don't think so?
"We are angry." You are not?
"we're pissed off " you're not?
"We are tired" You are not?
"we are at war" Actually the President said that.
"We are tired of terrorism" you're not?
"We didn't start it, but by God, we WILL finish it" I'm not even going to go there.....

Bush didn't mean it like "THE Crusades" more like these other definitions (from dictionary.com):

Any enterprise undertaken with zeal and enthusiasm;
A vigorous concerted movement for a cause or against an abuse. (See Synonyms at campaign.);
a series of actions advancing a principle or tending toward a particular end;

i know he didnt mean it like "the crusades" it was a mistake

but it still came across like that and like i said i think hes learning from his mistakes i dont think we're see anymore im sure he'll be more careful i think he gave a good speech and im still backing him with this ... anyway lets see what happens over the next few days/weeks nobody here knows for sure what america will do or england for that matter

Crusade.
1)Military expedition by the christian powers to recapture the Holy lands from the Muslims.
2) (Formerly) any holy war

Definitely a word to be avoided at the moment.

yeah i know.....that is still what most people think about when they hear "crusade" some words get tangled up like that....

Bush (as much as it pains me to say) is getting better. He still needs to work on his delivery though. For all of Clinton's faults, he WAS a great public speaker.

This is NOT a religious war for the U.S.

But it sure as hell is for the terrorists. That's why Bin Laden can easily obtain fanatics willing to commit suicide in order to further his goals. There's a real distinct difference between a soldier who might die in the course of his "job" (much like a police officer) and a religious fanatic who willingly gives his life for the cause. The death of the terrorist gets him into paradise where he will be greeted and serviced by 70 virgins. The death of a soldier gets him/her a funeral with a flag draped coffin and the respect of a thankful nation.

This is not a war between Arabs/Muslims and the rest of the world. This is a war between freedom loving people and repression. Let's see which countries really line up on the side of freedom. There is an awful lot of equivocation going on, right now, except from the UK.
