Morrissey Wins Bad Sex in Fiction Award

The rock legend earned the top prize for his debut novel, List of the Lost, which tells the story of a relay track team in Seventies Boston, whose members are cursed by a demon and killed off one-by-one. The judges were wowed by an "ecstatic scene" between one of the runners, Ezra, and his girlfriend, Eliza.

Examples of Morrissey's riveting prose include, "Eliza and Ezra rolled together into the one giggling snowball of full-figured copulation." Later that same sentence, the wordsmith described the tryst as a "dangerous and clamorous rollercoaster coil of sexually violent rotation." He also employed such verbiage as "barrel-rolled," "bulbous salutation" and "whacked and smacked."

Y'all take notes now.

Funny how the article does not say who he was to become a rock legend. But then I never did pay much attention to minor details like names or male performers.

The Smiths, I believe.
Possibly the most dreary [even boring] mono-tonal so-called group imaginable.

In critic-speak, i would have accepted "influential", "important", or heck, even "pioneering" if i was in a good mood, any of those euphemisms for "most people won't like it". Legendary is just too much of a stretch, even if you like him. Legendary means everybody knows who he is (this rule doesn't apply to jazz, of course. :D)

I read the article in the NYT. I read an excerpt.. Why oh why!!!!! It mad my brain hurt and my vagina want to shrivel up... WHYYYY!!!

The fact that Morissey was able to publish such utter garbage gives me hope for my own fiction after all - but also makes me despair about the state of publishing. Something of a dilemma. Hmm.

Morrissey has a VERY devoted fan base

Very...

He is quite popular with middle aged gay men and has a cult following both in America and in Mexico.

A close friend of mine has seen him dozens of times...

No matter how poor his newest material is... My friend buys it.

They are supporting the tribe.
