Hey I tell ya - check out this Uncle Bill dude. I'll leave it at that.

There's some dangerouse thinking folks out there.

I don't know much about the Libertarian party or exactly what they stand for - but if he represents what they are all about - I'd rename it Ubertarian.

Have a good morning - Unc's got me fired to a 10!!! Plus!!!

Morning Sparky

Usualy Bill is one of the good guys. I'll take a look.

Holy shit are the folks in FLorida counting on their fingers and toes.

Hurry up for fucks sake.

8.0 on the sparkometer this mornin'.

Morning sparky (although it evening here)

Bill is opinionated, but I think that he is well informed. He has a good mentor in the one with the Fountainhead that shrugged Atlas.

I like controversial thinkers, irrespective of their brand of intellectualism. What I can't handle Sparky (and these are the people far more dangerous than Bill) are those that don't think yet still have a strong view. I am afraid of such people because emotionalism is usually less rational. That's why I am afraid of Islamic Fundamentalism and that's why on another thread I dismissed blind patriotism as intellectual retardation.

Oh yeah, and I am also afraid of the Village People.

Not your perception?

Well then, how do you explain the attitude of people who refuse to engage with any type of normative reasoning in favour of defending something to which they a mere emotional link - for example (since it's somewhat of a theme of late) when their country may be under criticism. People can ignore insults (as Dixon said) but I am not convinced that valid and constructive critisms can be ignored with the same degree of freedom. If they are, then some serious questions about such a person are raised in my mind.

Good Mornin' all!

I wish this damn election was over with already! GEEZ!

I am about a 7 on the Ol' Spark-O-Meter but, that's because I haven't had my coffee yet! ;)

Gonna go get some now...as I hear the coffee maker has stopped perkin'...anybody want some as I go...?

I don't attempt to explain them....

I obviously don't understand "blind patriotism" except for the face value of he meaning of those two words.

I thought you might be indicating that I am a blind patriot. I am not.

I simply (maybe not so) said that I will never know, or understand, "why I" might find myself in "the chemical, emotional, physical combination of events" where I might lay down my life for any given cause or reason - which in many cases, I guess, it could be patriotism. I just don't know or understand when or how that combo of events may hit me - and I will die for a cause. It could be saving a kid from a run-a-way buss - I don't know.

But I suspect that - for me - there are more possible instances - for me - to do that - lay down my life - than most. That's all.

I'd call it - unforeseen, emotionally and intellectually driven martyrdom for a personal value or cause (not simply patriotism) - I think I more prone to that than most.

Good Morning Literoticans,

It's cloudy and cold in the northern plains, still cleaning up the snow, I'm gonna have a cup of coffee, punch on some threads, and see how much actual work I can get done today. I'm at a 10 already coz my big fat cat returned from three days lost in the snowstorm. Life is good.

Guten morgen. Or is it chouhn achimeh? Whatever.

Sparks, a yawl is 2 masted fore and aft rigged sailboat with the shorter mast stern abaft the tiller. It is also a ship's small boat, ie a rescue boat. To whom were you referring? *takes a look at the backside in confusion*

Y'all is actually the correct way, says so in the dickshnary. publik edkashun is fur me! I'm illiterate so I spell it wrong. Wouldn't a transplanted southerner in New York say "youse all?"

I have a headache and my tonsils and I are having a spat. My dogs are stupid, the cats NEVER shut up, and my fish kinda don't do anything, they just sort of swim around all day.

The upside is the StudMuffin is elsewhere for a few days. Yay! Silence! All I have to do is convince the cat to shut up...

FINALLY!!!! a full nights sleep, that was priceless,,,

Good luck KM,,, cats appear to be incrediably opinionated and are in need of voicing that opinion ALL THE DAMN time,,, at least the two here in my house are that way,,, oh, well,,, maybe I'll relegate them to the basement for the day,,,

Running at a full bore 10.0 this morning,,, my "flu" is abatting, a perfect late autumn morning here,,, it's cold and raining ( THAT'LL put a damper on the woodland fires here abouts ),,, so I think I'll read at Lit a bit and nap a bit,,, dinner is started so I can afford to lounge

Nah Sparky, not you

No Sparky, you are not a blind patriot and that wasn't my insinuation. I got onto the topic following another post by Flagg. You have your faults Sparky *wink* but this is not one of them.
